My family loves just snacking on pretzels plain, right out of the bag. But then I got to thinking that I needed to find a few recipes that I can use to dress up store bought pretzels and turn them into something fabulous… And so, this collection was born…22 amazing recipes that will turn those bags of pretzels into fun snacks, desserts and even crusting some chicken fingers for the kids! Fruit Topped Cheesecake with Pretzel Crust – This delicious recipe from Confessions of an Overworked Mom combines sweet and creamy cheesecake with a salty pretzel crust. Top it all off with some fresh seasonal fruit and you have an amazing dessert!2
Rolo Pretzel Surprise Cookies – Oh wow! This recipe from Organized 31 looks amazing! Could a cookie get any better than this one? A yummy warm cookie straight from the oven is filled with melted Rolo candy (chocolate and caramel) AND pretzels!
Strawberry Pretzel Whiptini – Hmmm…pretzels in a cocktail? Sure why not! Instead of a salted glass rim on this yummy strawberries & cream adult beverage you just do some crushed pretzels instead. This recipe from Snappy Gourmet is a perfect summer cocktail!5
Sweet and Spicy Snack Mix – If you are like me you love the combination of sweet, spicy and salty all in one. And this recipe from Hello Little Home will not disappoint in that flavor combination. This recipe is very much like a Chex mix but instead uses Quaker Life cereal (where the sweet comes in) and then has the savory/spicy element from soy sauce, siracha and some other yummy flavors and is rounded out with some tropical dried pineapple and pistachios!6
Jello Pretzel Salad Recipe – Jello is one of those things a lot of couponers have in their stockpiles because it is often free or super cheap after coupon and this classic recipe from A Mom’s Take is the perfect use for it. A pretzel crust is topped with creamy layer of whipped topping (ie Cool Whip) and cream cheese, then topped with fresh strawberries and strawberry gelatin is poured over. Pop it into the refrigerator and you have the perfect dessert for a hot day or to take to a potluck gathering!
Pretzel Chicken Fingers – Here is a delicious kid friendly way to use pretzels…make your own chicken fingers with a delicious pretzel crust! My kids love chicken fingers for dinner or lunch and dipped in some sweet honey mustard I do too! This amazingly easy recipe from Dawn Nicole will have the kids smiling for sure!
Pretzel Butterflies – These sweet little white chocolate dipped pretzels are billed for the 4th of July by Crafting In The Rain, but I think with a change in the color of sugar sprinkles you could make them for any occasion or holiday! Pink, purple, blue, yellow…any color here would work! This is also a fun recipe for the kids to help in the kitchen with.9
Chocolate Covered Pretzels with Toffee – Here in another great twist (pun intended) on chocolate dipped pretzels, this time with some delicious Heath Bar toffee bits added on top. Oreos Pretzel Frogs – Okay..these are frogs made out of Oreo cookies with pretzel legs are too cute for words! One of my daughters (I have three) is in LOVE with frogs and I could just know she would squeal in delight if I made these for her. Sprinkle of Spring Vanilla Almond Bark Pretzels – These lovely little vanilla almond bark covered pretzels are perfect for spring snacking or to give as gifts (I can imagine them all wrapped up in a cellophane bag with a pastel bow). The recipe comes from Kid And Things and could not be easier to make! The kids can get involved too with this one, either dipping the pretzels or just adding the candy sprinkles on top!
Cranberry Nut Pretzel Bark – I love candy bark recipes! And this recipe from How Does Your Garden Grow is amazingly simple and delicious. How can you go wrong with just four simple ingredients? White chocolate, pretzels, Craisins and Pecans…YUMMY!13
Compost Cookies – The name of this cookie at first threw me off…but then as I got to reading the ingredient list I was intrigued. These cookies from Donuts, Dresses And Dirt have everything but the kitchen sink in them…pretzels (of course), butterscotch chips, mini chocolate chips, oatmeal, coffee (HELLO!), graham cracker crumbs and potato chips. Cowboy Bark – I am not sure what about this recipe from Averie Cooks is making me what to say “Yea Haw”, is it the fun “cowboy” name or the fact that this candy bark recipe has both pretzels AND Oreo cookies AND of course chocolate? This is a copy cat recipe of Trader Joe’s.
