I've always enjoyed Lowes. Extensively a hardware store, it's quite eclectic and it's offerings. Of course hardware stores in past years have offered garden plants when in season. Lowe's had a nice selection today. Some of the plants were considerably more developed than expected which was a nice surprise.

Ordering online and picking up in store was an easy process. What the thing a beautiful spring day the outdoor garden center was very busy and I had to wait in a line with six vehicles in front of me for about 15 minutes before it was my turn to pick up mulch. Having worked at home Depot in the outdoor garden department I can say one thing is for sure the way they have their mulch pick up is the most backwards thing I've ever come across. There was only one line for any types and colors of mulch, bags of potting soil, sod...It didn't matter which of the 15 different products they store in the parking lot, there was only one line for everything. There was enough room that they could have had two separate lines going at the same time, thus cutting the wait time by at least half. It's the most backwards thing I've ever come across at a home Depot or Lowe's outdoor garden center especially during the busiest part of the year, that being one of the most beautiful days of spring we've had so far. On the upside I will say that I made an additional purchase at the outdoor garden center register and there was only one person in line in front of me. However all the blame falls on myself for waiting until 1:00 p.m. on a 65 day to go buy mulch from Lowe's. If you need mulch or any other bag product that they store in the parking lot do not make the same mistake as I did, go on a weekday or very early in the morning or late in the day. By all means you should avoid picking up mulch or any other bag product from the parking lot anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., during those hours it's a madhouse with the loonies running the show. Actually I retract part of that statement the 4 guys they had working the parking lot we're doing the best job that they could given the Looney tunes setup that they have for picking up any bag product that you cannot fit in a shopping cart or feel like pushing on the flat cart. I can say with 100% certainty that the two years I spent working in the outdoor garden department at home Depot I had never seen such a fiasco that people had to go through to get a little mulch. Oh and it also didn't help that it was on sale five bags for $10. That's like a moth drawn to the flame.
