Homemade Apple Pie Granola Recipe - Taste the warm and hearty flavors of fall with this homemade granola recipe that is full of warm apple pie spices and chunks of dried apples!

Homemade Apple Pie Granola Recipe

I am not much of a cold cereal eater but I do love a bowl of granola for breakfast. Topped with a little milk, or in my case some soy or almond milk since I am lactose intolerant, and it just makes for the perfect breakfast or snack. If you have ever priced store bought granola though you know how expensive it can be. The price per ounce for granola is sometimes two to three times as much as regular breakfast cereal and that is a ouchy on the pocketbook!

But making your own homemade granola is so easy (really it is, I promise) and you can flavor it up however you want. In the past I have shared my orange cranberry granola recipe and now I present you with this homemade apple pie granola flavor which is perfect for fall (or any time of the year really!)

Step 1: Gather your ingredients

Homemade Apple Pie Granola Recipe Ingredients - Just a few simple ingredients are all that it takes to make this delicious homemade granola!

The ingredients are simple:

  • 3 1⁄2 Cups Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
  • 1⁄2 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1⁄4 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1⁄4 Teaspoon Ground Ginger
  • 1⁄8 Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • 1⁄4 Cup Brown Sugar, light or dark
  • 1⁄4 Cup Apple Sauce
  • 1 Cup Chopped Dried Apples, divided
  • 1/4 Cup Maple Syrup

Step 2: Add oats, oil and salt together in a large mixing bowl.

Step 3: Mix it all together well until all the oats are coated with the oil.

Step 4: Spread the mixture on a rimmed baking sheet lined with aluminum foil and bake for 10 minutes at 375°.

Step 5: Transfer mixture back into mixing bowl and add 1/2 cup dried apples.

Step 6: Add the cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, brown sugar and apple sauce to the cooked oats and apple mixture and mix well.

Step 7: Press the granola mixture back into the foil lined baking sheet and drizzle with the maple syrup. Bake at 300° for one hour.

Step 8: Let the granola cool completely and then break it apart, add the remaining 1/2 cup dried apples and then store in a air tight container.
