* This recipe as is will give you 2-3 dozen (relatively thin) cookies, I would say. I always make a double batch*

2/3 cup shortening-- can use unsalted butter instead
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
4 teaspoons milk-- I add a little more as needed for mixing in dry ingredients
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 & 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Thoroughly cream shortening, sugar, and vanilla. Add egg; beat until light and fluffy. Stir in milk. Blend dry ingredients into creamed mixture. Divide dough in half and chill 1 hour. Roll out dough to desired thickness and cut shapes. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for about 6-8 minutes. Decorate! :smile7:
