Recipes - Tried & True Steak San Marco

From my mom's recipe box since I was a kid:

Steak San Marco


2 lbs chuck steaks, cut into serving pieces.
1 envelope onion soup mix (I use Lipton's)
1 (28 ounce) can peeled Italian tomatoes
1 teaspoon oregano
garlic powder, to taste (or garlic clove, chopped fine)
pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons cooking oil
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar


1 In a large skillet, arrange meat.

2 Cover with other ingredients.

3 Simmer covered 1 and 1/2 hours or until meat is tender.

Serve over egg noodles or whole wheat wavy noodles.

I am so scared of pressure cookers. I just need to get over it and do it. But I am so afraid the thing is going to explode on me or something. :dontknow1:
Yeah, I'm just thankful I lived through my childhood - the old fashioned kind with NO safety! The ones now are safe enough.
Pressure cookers are made for folks like me... Scrambling at the last minute!
