Dead Deal Some Random October Deals & Blinkie List

I did not have a Saturday Sampler this week.

We didn't get one this week either. Those just started coming before we made our trip, so it must be a Safeway thing that Albertsons adopted. I've been watching your sales since shopping over on the Coast a few weeks ago.

Overall, you get a lot better prices on many things than we do. You seem to have at least one really great "loss leader" coupon at the top of the coupon column in the ad each week. When we were on the Coast it was a bag of Mandarins for about $1.47 one week and frozen meals for 47 cents one week. Looks like it could be cheap cereal this week?

We don't get those. We've got 88 cent Progresso soup in that spot this week -- which is the same price we can get it for this week and quite regularly at other stores including Kroger.

However, on some items it looks like we are about a week ahead of you in the sale cycle. We sometimes get Yoplait on sale the week before you do. Last week, we got Tillamook Yogurt while this week you have Lucerne when we don't have a yogurt deal at all.

Our peppers were 88 cents last week, but this week they are two for three dollars.

I noticed a week or two you mentioned a great deal on oat milk coming the following week and we had a deal that week, however, it was part of a Fab Four sale and the only other item we could have used on the sale was Muir Glen tomatoes. Our stores got rid of Muir Glen a few years back so I couldn't take advantage of the sale.

I still REALLY miss those coupons you get for things like one dollar off cereal, organics, frozen food and produce though. We don't get anything close to that here -- at least without spending fuel points to redeem for them. And of course, we don't get the weekly doubler coupons either, but I didn't really have any 50 cent coupons for items we needed while we were on the road anyway, so didn't get much use from them.

We very rarely get a generic $1/1 e-Q here, but there are sometimes store coupon sheets at the pharmacy that include some $1/1 OO or ON or SS.
Doubling is an Oregon region thing, which includes a bit of the south WA border area, their ads are different from ours. Years ago we lived near the border and I shopped with the doublers.

$0.75 off
Signature SELECT Soda
12-pack or 2-liter. Limit 1.

While we were in both Central and Coastal Oregon we got at least two or three $1 coupons when we logged in each week. The categories changed from one week to the next, but it would be things like $1 off any frozen foods purchase, $1 off any produce purchase, $1 off any cereal purchase, $1 off any O Organics purchase and $1 off any bakery purchase. We really enjoyed them while we had them. We enjoyed quite a few of the sale prices while we were there, but of course, could only buy what we ate there. Didn't have enough space to drag too much home.

I know my Mom used to get the doublers in Vancouver when we visited her, but Albertsons did away with its doublers years ago.

Many years ago, they wouldn't even give us a Safeway card when we visited Washington so frequently because we didn't have a local store -- despite the fact we traveled in Safeway territory often. (Safeway was here when I first moved here, but it pulled out somewhere in the mid-80s. It sold our stores to a chain called "Farmer Jack" which promptly went bankrupt.)

Not having a card sure hurt when we got up to Canada and had to pay non-member prices in addition to high Canadian prices on groceries. They finally let me have a card several years ago -- long after we no longer traveled to Canada regularly -- and of course, now they've linked Albertsons and Safeway so they recognize you wherever you travel.
