I personally like a little more ketchup and a tad bit more brown sugar in mine, but taste it and see how you like it first.

It's easy and cheap to make, and boy does it make a potfull so you better get out your dutch ovens for this one!

Here is the recipe as close to the original from the 1960's:

SLUMGULLION:

2 pounds of ground beef
1 medium onion, diced
3 large stalks of celery, diced
couple tablespoons of butter or margarine
1 large (28 ounce) can of diced tomatoes
3 cans of dark red kidney beans, draining only 1 of them
4 heaping tablespoons of brown sugar
1-1/2 - 2 cups of ketchup
enough water to cover meat mixture when browned in skillet or dutch oven
1/2 box ( one pound box) of rotini noodles, cooked al dente & drained
salt & pepper

Saute onions and celery in a little butter in A LARGE skillet or dutch oven until translucent, remove from skillet and set aside. Brown meat in skillet and drain. Return meat, celery and onions to skillet and add canned tomatoes, ketchup, brown sugar and just enough water to make sure the mixture is covered, and salt & pepper mixture. Simmer slowly (on low) about a half hour and add the kidney beans, cook about another 15 minutes, add cooked rotini and simmer for about another 5 minutes. Mixture should thicken up enough once the kidney beans and the pasta are added.

Let me know if you made it how you like it!
