Pizza crust



Pizza crust

1 package active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1 ½ Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp solid white shortening, melted
1 ½ tsp salt
3 – 3 ½ cups white flour
vegetable oil

Stir yeast into warm water until dissolved. Add sugar, melted shortening and salt. Stir in two cups of flour. Gradually add remaining flour to form a soft dough. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic. Let dough rest about 5 minutes in a covered dish. Brush a 14-inch round pizza pan with oil. Roll dough to flatten. Press evenly over bottom of pan.

Cover with sauce, onions, peppers, pepperoni, or other favorite toppings and cheese (make sure toppings are as dry as possible, or the pizza with be soggy!).

Bake at 425-degrees for 15-20 minutes.
