Recipes - Tried & True Oven Stew

I got this recipe from a cookbook I received as a wedding present back in 1985 and have been making it ever since!

Worth It's Salt...A Collection of Favorite Recipes from Texas Hereford Association Members

2 lb lean stew meat
1 lb carrots, cut up
2 lg potatoes, cut up
2 cans tomato soup
2 cans golden mushroom soup
1 can water
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1 can green beans, drained

Put in oven for 5 hours at 275 degrees. When stew is in oven do not remove lid for 5 hours.

I've made this exactly as the recipe reads and I've also thrown in a can of tomatoes, corn, extra green beans, onion, more potatoes. I've even left it in the oven longer than 5 hours. It's easy to add whatever ingredients you want and turns out perfect every time!
