Oven-Rise Pizza Dough

1 pkg active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1 1/2 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp solid white shortening, melted
1 1/4 tsp salt
3 - 3 1/2 cups flour
vegetable oil

Stir yeast into warm water until dissolved. Add sugar, melted shortening, and salt. Stir in two cups of flour. Gradually add remaining flour to form a soft dough. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic. Let dough rest about 5 minutes in a covered dish.

Brush pizza pan with oil. Roll dough to flatten and press evenly over bottom of pan.

Cover with sauce, onions, peppers, sausage, and/or other toppings and cheese.

Bake at 425 F for 15 - 20 minutes.
