Mozzarella Cheese Sticks - several recipes

I have not tried any of these recipes.


· Make sure to freeze the cheese for at least three hours; otherwise it will become unmanageable.
· The bread crumbs will stay on and the cheese will hold its shape better if you don't handle the cheese too much during frying. Deep frying is an easy way to accomplish this.
· You can also make fried cheese without the breaded part. Farmer's cheese and products labeled "frying cheese" will work. Paneer and queso blanco are Indian and Mexican varieties of farmer's cheese (respectively) that also fry well.

How to Fry Cheese

Processed cheese cut into cubes
Eggs for coating
Cooking oil capable of withstanding hot temperature

1. Bread the cheese cubes. Beat some eggs, coat the cheese with it, and "bread" it with Italian-style breadcrumbs.
2. Freeze it for at least three hours.
3. Heat the oil. Use a shallow pan to heat the oil in; heat it to a hot temperature.
4. Carefully fry the cheese until the breadcrumbs are golden brown. Use tongs to help you to keep turning the cubes.
5. Allow the cheese to cool on paper towels until you can eat it.

Fried Cheese Sticks
2 (8 oz.) pkgs. Mozzarella cheese
3 tbsp. flour
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 c. Italian seasoned bread crumbs
2 c. vegetable oil (for frying)

Cut Mozzarella into 16 - 2 1/2 x 1/2 inch sticks. Place flour in a bag. Add cheese and shake to coat. Shake off excess flour. Put egg in a bowl. Place crumbs on waxed paper. Dip cheese sticks into egg, then roll in bread crumbs, coating well. Fry cheese in hot oil about 30 seconds until golden brown. Drain well.

Mozzarella Melanese – Fried Cheese Sticks
1 lb. Mozzarella cheese
1/2 c. flour
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. dry bread crumbs
1 1/2 c. vegetable oil

Slice cheese 1/4 inch thick, then into sticks 4â€￾ long by 1â€￾ wide. Roll cheese in the flour; dip in eggs; roll in bread crumbs, coating them well. Heat oil in skillet until very hot. Fry a few at a time until brown. Drain and serve.

Fried Cheese
1 pound of Mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup of flour
1 egg, beaten
1 cup of cooking oil
1/2 cup of bread crumbs

Cut cheese into 3/4 inch cubes. Roll in flour, then dip in beaten egg, then bread crumbs. Heat no more than 2 inches of oil. Fry for 20 to 30 seconds or until golden brown.

Italian Styled Fried Cheese
1 pound of Mozzarella cheese, cut in 2" x 1/2" rectangles
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 cup of flour
2/3 cups of seasoned bread crumbs
1 tablespoon of olive oil

In three separate bowls, put eggs, flour and seasoned dry bread crumbs. Dip cheese in egg, then flour, then egg, then crumbs. Place on wax paper. Refrigerate 1 hour. Fry cheese in olive oil, turning once.
