Ma's (Italian) Dough Recipe



Ma's Italian Dough recipe:

4lbs flour
2 heaping TB Crisco shortening
1 TB salt
1 TB sugar
1 pkg yeast
warm water

Put flour in large bowl, make a well in the flour. Put Crisco in the well. Add salt. Put 1 c warm water in the well to dissolve the Crisco. In another small bowl, add another 1/4 C warm water, add pkg of yeast. Add 1 TB sugar in also. Let stand until bubbles on top (about 10 minutes).
Add yeast mixture into flour well. Get a measuring cup of about 2 more cups of warm water. Keep adding water, until dough is soft. Work dough on floured board. Cover. Let rise for 3 hours.
