My book, "Wilde is the Joker" is available on Amazon.com for $4.99 (e-book edition) and if you are one of the first 10 people to post here that you want it, I will send you a $5 Amazon GC to pay for it.

    How this works:

    1. Post here that you want the book and promise to buy it.

    2. Send me a PM with your preferred Amazon.com email addy.

    3. After you get the $5 GC from me, click on the link in my signature (by doing that, HCW will get a commission on your purchase).

4 If you want it in e-book form, click on where it says "Kindle". Then just order it. If you want it in paperback form, it will cost you more money. You can use the $5 GC towards part of the price but you will have to pay the rest yourself.

Most of the book consists of satires/humor (all connected in some way to gambling or casinos), both online and brick and mortar. However, the final chapter is a collection of more serious short stories.

If you like the book, I would appreciate you posting a review on Amazon after you read it but this is in no way required. If you don't like the book, I would appreciate even more you NOT posting that review!

BTW, if you do not have a Kindle, you can still read the ebook version. On the same page where the book is advertised, Amazon gives a link for you to download a free Kindle app for your tablet, phone, or computer.

I would love to buy it! I planned to eventually, but I couldn't afford it right away. Now I can read it for free, yay!

You don't need a Kindle -- you can download the free Kindle App mentioned right under the picture of the book ("Read on any device.")

After spending some time looking at the paperback version, I have to advise everyone NOT to buy it. The text is much too small to read comfortably and I am going to have to try to get it fixed.

The Kindle version allows you to set the print to any size that you feel comfortable reading and I strongly urge you to buy that one (which also happens to be one heck of a lot cheaper).

I've barely been on HCW for the past few days...just stopping in here long enough to check to see if I had any messages. So I didn't see this until now. I'd love to buy one!

I can't say I'll understand much of it, if it's about gambling. I have nothing against gambling...I just have never done anything other than buying lottery tickets, or raffle tickets from schools, churches, and baseball teams! OK...I went to a casino one time. I walked around with my husband and his brother for a few hours while they played various games, then drove their drunk hides home! LOL!

The other night, my husband turned on an old movie that he thought I might like. It opens up with scenes in a casino. I had no idea what was going on at any of the tables, so I asked. After the third question, he turned it off, and said he'd watch it another time, then picked a different movie for us to watch together. I know absolutely nothing about casino gambling, poker, or any other card game (besides the Go Fish!!). But, I'll give the book a shot!

I'll send you my preferred email.

Your GC has been sent to you.

Some of the stories in it are about gambling, others use gambling as a lens to discuss other things (like politics).

You do not have to know anything at all about gambling to understand most of the book -- except for one thing.

That one thing is that there are many online casinos. Some of them are honest, many are flat-out thieves, and almost all of them will refuse to pay your winnings if you violate one of their rules (and those rules can be very complicated). A number of the satires talk about the casinos which look (and always find) some rule to refuse to pay.

BTW, as one part of the book explains, you do gamble. In fact, you gamble every single day of your life -- and usually many times. Any decision that you make is a gamble. For example, if you get a coupon from Wal-Mart offering you a free box of a laundry detergent that the store markets under its own name, you would not think you are gambling when you go to the store and pick up the detergent.

However, you are. You are gambling the price of a box of your regular detergent (which you are saving by not buying it) against the possibility that this new Wal-Mart product may be so bad that it will destroy the clothing you put in the washing machine.

For that matter, let's say that your grandson graduates high school having been your state's top-ranked baseball player. Two or three universities offer him full athletic scholarships if he goes there but a major league team wants him to start immediately and promises that if he makes the cut and is put on the roster, he will get a $1 million per year contract for the next 5 years.

The downside is that if he does not make the team, he will not be paid anything and will have lost out on the scholarship offers. No matter what he decides to do, it is a gamble.

hey FF, I prefer paperback with large print so when it's available, let me know. You don't have to send me amzn GC, I may have enough in my account.

    Congrats!

PS: online gaming sites can be profitable even for those who don't gamble ; )

@joshmamabear, if by "large print" you mean the size usually found in children's books or book specially made for people with bad vision, I doubt that it will ever be available. What I am trying to get to is print in the size normally found in paperback books and also as dark as those. Currently, the print is tiny and grew and I am working on that.

(The Kindle edition, of course, is fine although I am correcting a few typos that I found.) If someone buys a Kindle edition and there are corrections made in it, Amazon automatically updates your book the next time you turn on the Wi-Fi.)

I will, of course, let you know when the new paperback edition is available and I hope the print is large enough for you.

by large print, I meant similar to Reader's Digest large print although normal print will work. Yes, I have gotten to the "bad vision stage"...ha ha ha

I'm just one of those who still prefer holding a book and leafing through the pages; I'm weird like that :p

I, also, prefer reading an actual book but Kindle has several advantages:

    1. The Kindle edition is always far less expensive than the hard cover or paperback editions.
    2. Kindle type can be set to any size that the reader finds most comfortable.
    3. Outside of the US or other English-speaking nations, finding the English language book you want can be difficult. I can buy them on Amazon and wait almost a month for delivery or I can download immediately onto my Kindle.

I worked around the "book feel" problem by buying a case for my Kindle which opens like a book. Admittedly, it is not the same thing but it is very close.
