Low Sodium Teriyaki Talapia

1 c Soy Sauce Substitute (Recipe Posted at the bottom of this post) or if you aren't watching your sodium you could just use regular soy sauce
2 T Sesame Oil
2 T Saki You can substitute sherry or mirin, a sweet japanese rice wine, for the saki.
1/2 c Sugar
3 ea Garlic,Crushed
2 sl Ginger Root
ds Black Pepper

Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan and heat until sugar is dissolved. Store in the refrigerator. 2 T Sesame Oil

Marinade talapia in teriyaki sauce for about 24 hours. Drain sauce. Place on baking pan and cook in oven at 350. 10 minutes on each side.


This is the recipe for the Soy Sauce Substitute:
2 T Sodium Free Beef Bouillon
2 t Red Wine Vinegar
1 t Molasses
1/8 t Ground Ginger
ds Black Pepper
ds Garlic Powder
3/4 c Water

In small sauce pan, combine and boil gently uncovered about 5 minutes or til mixture is reduced to 1/2 cup. Store in refrigerator. Stir before using.

I use home made broth in place of the bouillon and water.
