DH cooked lunch and dinner today. Manwich sloppy joes for lunch and I just grabbed some potato chips for my side. I think DH opened a bag of corn chips.
Dinner was sweet and sour chicken with rice. I thawed out some frozen peas that I needed to get rid of and a few stir-fry blend veggies and DH found a can of pineapple to add to it.

Got my bags packed for next week's trip and got together a small box of paper products to use for picnics on the road (plates, forks, paper towels etc.) and few items like ziplocks that I think I will need at the rental condo.

In a shameless effort to get rid of bread heals, I made bread pudding this afternoon. DS and I sampled some while it was still warm. The rest is chilling in the fridge for later......

Two more loads of dishes today:rolleyes: and one load of laundry - it seems like the dishes just never end around here!

Other than that, I have been cruising the internet and keeping an eye on the hurricane. Was planning to use my own timeshare unit next year in FL but it is a 1st floor on the beach and I can only wait and see how bad it gets up toward Tampa/St Petersburg......:(. Worrying about a HS buddy of mine in Cape Coral that decided to ride out the storm there. I was on a cruise during Andrew and saw a glimpse of how bad it was when we returned to Miami. There was no potable water in the airport when we flew home and most of the restaurants didn't even try to stay open. The shuttle driver said his electric had been out for a week, but he was fortunate that his house was not too badly damaged.

I am looking forward to getting a one week paycheck from the bank this Thursday. We received an email from our school payroll person and I may get a 1 week check this week too. The worst case is that if I do not get paid this week, I will have a 3 week paycheck by the end of the month.
Over the weekend, I received a Seventh generation settlement check for $20 and deposited it in the bank. I also sold 2 more things on EBay and am leaving those funds in my paypal account.
Gas prices are still high here and I will not fill up my tank until I get off the island on Wednesday or Thursday. At $2.89 a gallon for regular gas, the price will not go down until the station uses up the gas it bought at the higher price. When I go shopping this week, I have a gc and ecr to use at CVS and plan to do some coupon shopping in King Kullen. I may also check out Kmart to see if I can use some surprise points on clothing.
D3 received her phone today and so far, so good. It is in the new case and I just hope it is waterproof like it says. The new phone was in great shape and looked better than her old phone which is still not working. D3 needs to be more careful with her electronics in the future.
From SB I was able to get a second $5 gc for the Children's place. Today I also ordered a $3 ebay gc on sale for 270 points. I am just waiting for some newer MIR to come out so I can order them. Today, I mailed out another rebate and the check will go to my sister. I send her the rebates that are good in NJ.

So my friend in FL did well in her apt building during the storm - never even lost power. I also heard that St. Petes was not as bad as expected. I have a coworker that owns a place in Puerto Rico though and he said there was "some repairs" that would need to be done. Don't know exactly what he meant by that though.....

Anyway, sack lunching this week and trying to use up odds and ends out of the fridge since we are going on our road trip/ vacation starting Fri. Very happy to be going the opposite way as KS :D. So glad that I sold that house last month.

~got a staples rebate in the form of a visa gift card for $26.22. I was also able to cash out a $29 cash-back reward from my bank. Both will get added to vacation fund.

~I will put any restaurant spend on my Discover car this next week for a 5% cash back. That will be put into the vacation fund when I get back as a start for next year.

Got another kit to review in the mail today -- a men's and women's deodorant and coupons to share. Thought the share coupons were going to be freebies, but I guess not ...

Still have to try the deodorant and review it. Sure am enjoying the chance to try things though!

Picked up some things at the grocery store tonight. I just haven't been able to motivate myself to the store this week -- especially since I thought our regular store was charging us a LOT more for bread than the sale price in neighboring states. However, tonight the store had a shelf price that was the same as they were offering elsewhere -- even though our ad had a MUCH higher price listed.

Bit the bullet and paid 51 cents extra for the snack cheese. The store had them on sale the day the coupons came out and we bought one pack. Went back with printables the next day and they had jacked the price. :( The price went up on a Monday and their sales don't normally end until Saturday.

Didn't feel much like buying the cheese there after that, but I really didn't have much else I needed at the stores that may (or may not) have been cheaper, so I figured I run out a dollar's worth of gas trying to check.

Still need to hit two more stores tomorrow or Friday -- if I can get myself in gear to do it.

Hot weather here today - wondering if we will get a storm tonight.....

I used some of my Staples visa card rebate to get lettuce, tomato, and buns at walmart. I made chicken sandwiches for lunch today with the breaded patties I had in the freezer. The leftover produce and buns will go with us for our lunch sandwiches for tomorrow. I think I will do up tuna salad to take with us for a picnic lunch on the way. I found an Italian restaurant that I want to try for dinner tomorrow night after we get to the hotel.

Dinner tonight might just be something easy like take-n-bake pizza.

Plugging away at errands and chores. Laundry is almost done and I will need to run dishes in a bit.

You're probably getting the hot weather that just left our area. We're going straight from summer to winter AGAIN, without any autumn, it seems.

We've been well into the 90s around here -- VERY HOT yesterday -- then last night the weatherman warned us of snow above 6,000 feet.

It is cold and windy here today and we're supposed to get heavy rain for the next week or so. Kind of hard to wrap our minds around our temperature variations here sometimes.

We usually get some Indian Summer once this passes each year, but the temperatures usually tank here just long enough for the trees to drop all their beautiful autumn leaves before we get much chance to enjoy them.

I guessed right about a storm as the cloud cover has moved in pretty quick this afternoon and the wind is picking up big time.

I got the aluminum cans out of the garage and to recycle, so another $10 in my pocket today!:) That worked out good because I broke a $20 and got a roll of quarters at the bank this morning in case I needed laundry/vending quarters this week. Now I have a few smaller bills in my wallet instead.

I gassed up DH's work car this morning, so it will be ready when we get back from vacation. (DS will get left with his own car and the keys to DH's car just in case, while we take off in the SUV.) On the way back from recycle we stopped to drop a bill at the rental house and gas up the SUV. I used a .60/gal off reward today and still have a .50 off to use later this month. I am sure we will use the other .50 during our trip at some point. If not, then I will use it after we get home on the 24th. Next project is to get the suitcases and pantry food in the SUV so that we are ready to just load the cooler and go tomorrow......

Had a nice road trip to here (Park City Utah). We stopped overnight about 1/2 way and had a nice dinner and some sleep.... Yesterday we stopped and saw dinosaur bones and had a picnic lunch then drove thought eastern utah. Saw lots of cows, sheep, and landcape before finally arriving in Park City at slightly before dinner time. There was a nice little mexican market within walking distance of the condo, so I got cooking oil and torillas and made cheese quesadillas for dinner. (we had a big bag of Costco shredded cheese in our cooler along with a jar of salsa.) I had a few mini chicken tacos that were leftovers that we also got rid of last night.

After that we went to Walmart for basics like milk, eggs, more bread, and of course ice cream! I spent $20+ on food, but that should set us up for a few days. I also found some clearance beach towels which we needed so I bought 6 @$3 each. We found some aqua shoe at another walmart Fri for $1, so now we are set for our next beach vacation!

Today we are going to a ballon launch early this morning, then to the farmers market. In between, I will put the pork roast that I brought with us in a crock pot for dinner. We will also just do a little sightseeing around town today in the daylight.....

So far I spent about $55 on gas, but we have some left in the tank. The prices were slight higher that the $2.50/gal I originally budgeted, but I think we still have enough $ budgeted to cover that. The dinner we had out was $50, but we ate picnic lunch both days (tuna salad sandwiches) and dinner in the condo last night. Breakfast was at the hotel yesterday. I snagged a bagel and some fruit for the road on top of what I ate, but never snacked on them yesterday. Those items are in the fridge now for later this week .....

Oh and we bought $35 in liquour while we were still in Colorado, since I didn't know how much it will cost here in Utah. I did get an Ibotta rebate on one item for $2. The Fat Tire I picked out was on sale and so was the hard soda that DH picked up, so we came out okay on that stuff. We also got a small bottle of rum and some mudslide at regular price. We probably won't finish all of it though and will end up taking some stuff back home.....

We made the right call on the liquor purchase as it was expensive in the store here! At least $3-$4 more for the 6 packs and the selection wasn't all that great.....

Anyway, today we took a tour of the olympic park ($12 each) and had a fun time watching some freestyle skiiers practice jumps into the training pool after the tour. It was neat to stand at the top of the ski jump hill and the bobsled run and see what it looked like from there.... The rest of the afternoon, DH and I walked around downtown. After that I took a short walk on the rail trail by myself.

Lunch: spaghetti from a jar that I brought from home, garlic toast, and some leftover chicken merlot from the Italian restaurant we went to on Friday night.

Dinner: grilled chicken, rice-a-roni, canned corn.

DH made cake yesterday and we had some cake and ice cream for an afternoon snack today. There is a ton of both left for the rest of the week.

I ran into walmart for laundry soap today and spotted some markdown premade burger patties. I tossed them in the freezer and will get them out later this week for grilling. I grabbed a large pkg of buns and BBQ sauce because another meal will end up being the leftover pork as BBQ sandwiches. That should cover me the rest of the week as we will probably eat out a bit too and just finish off leftovers on Friday night.....

Tomorrow is our casino bus trip out of Salt Lake City. We will do a buffet lunch there and probably grab fast food for dinner or else just come back and eat leftovers here.

The trip was fun... The buffet was only so-so, but I got out of the casino with only $5 lost. I got a free acholic drink and a free starbucks frappacino, so I guess it came out pretty even.

Anyway, after getting back we heated up canned chili for dinner. DH had grilled cheese and I had cheese quesadilla. Doing some laundry and dishes tonight then going to bed.

We picked a good day for the casino trip as it was raining cats & dogs this morning. The clouds cleared up by this evening but it was still cold outside, so we would have been stuck indoors anyway today.....

Lunch: BBQ pulled pork with chips and leftover sides.
Dinner: hamburgers on the grill. Chips and fruit for sides.

I booked a Hampton Inn for our halfway point on the way home. Used the point & cash feature to get the cost below $100. I used ebates and will get a big .88 cents back eventually. Super 8 stay is still pending on ebates. On the plus side, I got a reward of 11,100 points for our cheap $50 super 8 stay with wyndam. 10,000 special promo, 1,000 minimum points for stay, and 100 for advanced booking. I am almost up to a free room at wyndham now.

Today is just a kick back and relax day. I am messing around on my laptop and DH is downloading pictures to his. We will eat lunch shortly and go to the farmers market for a bit, then check out Canyons Village ski area base (walking around to see what shops and restaurants are there). We might do a senic drive today too before coming back for dinner.

Yesterday was a nice day and we took advantage of it to go on a senic train ride ($60). That was the most expensive thing we did this trip! Took along the last of the tuna salad that I had in the fridge for lunch. Diner was pre-marinated chicken fajita meat that I got at Smiths on Wed. when we went in to pick up more sodas on sale. We already had cheese, tortillas, peppers and onions. I bought some Deans guacamole dip too and have a lot of it left to snack on today.

We stopped at a thrift store after the train ride. I found a fleece pullover ($4), a little tumi travel organizer (.75), and a paperback book ($1). DH bought a grow light and few other odds and end with his spending money. Not sure how much he spent..... It was a fun stop though. We walked to downtown after getting back and went window shopping/sightseeing. By the time we were done it was getting chilly, so we took the free bus back to the condo.

Today is a snowy/rainy type day and DH is sleeping in right now. I think I will go put laundry in the washer in a bit since we need to pack up tonight for heading homeward tomorrow. (The washer is free here at the condo complex, so I am saving my roll of quarters that I brought with me.)

Lunch will be spaghetti leftovers. I bought a little Italian sausage to add to spruce it up a bit.

Dinner will be whatever is scroungeable out of the fridge - there is one hamburger left, a bit of chicken fajita, some chicken flavored rice and misc. fruits and veggies. Something creative will come out of all that mess...

I think this afternoon might just be red box movie time unless the weather improves a bunch!

Tomorrow we will eat out for lunch after leaving the condo and then head down the road thru Wyoming to head homeward. We are staying at the Hampton Inn in Wyoming and finishing the rest of the drive home on Sunday.

Overall, we have spent just a little over $400 on this vacation. That includes gas, food, and sightseeing/activities. I will probably need to gas up once more on the road and we will eat out a couple of times, so maybe another $100 max will be spent. I budgeted $1000 and that is only half, so I will leave the rest in my vacation savings account for next year!
