Chocolate Revel Bars

1 cup margarine or butter, softened
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
2 cups packed brown sugar
2 eggs
4 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups quick-cooking rolled oats
1 ½ cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 14-ounce can (1 ¼ cups) sweetened condensed milk
2 tablespoons margarine or butter
1/3 cup chopped nuts

In a large mixer bowl beat 1 cup margarine with an electric mixer on medium speed for 30 seconds. Add about half the flour, all the brown sugar, eggs, 2 teaspoons of the vanilla, and baking soda. Beat on low speed until thoroughly combined. Beat in remaining flour. Stir I oats.

In a medium saucepan cook chocolate pieces, sweeted condensed milk and 2 tablespoons margarine over low heat until chocolate is melted, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Stir in remaining vanilla and nuts.

Pat 2/3 of oat mixture (about 3 ½ cups) into bottom of an ungreased 15x10x1-inch baking pan. Spread chocolate mixture over oat mixture. Dot with remaining oat mixture. Bake in a 350-degree oven about 25 minutes or until top is lightly golden (chocolate mixture will still look moist). Cool on wire rack. Cut into bars.
