Staples has been sold to private equity.
There are two conflicting stories on what may happen and how it can affect the ink recycle program.

    From one story:
It represents a bet by Sycamore that Staples could more quickly shift its business model from serving consumers to catering to companies if it were to go private.
...................That would be the end for all of us consumers and we know Office Depot has no ink recycle program or they did not the last time we checked which was years. Also we like the Staples printer paper rebates.........

...........................The other story says that Sycamore leans toward the retail stores for the delivery aspect.................
The acquisition also shows that Sycamore, whose buyout fund is dedicated to retail deals, is willing to take on the risk of falling store sales at Staples because of the potential it sees in Staples' delivery unit, which supplies businesses directly.

We got an e-mail today announcing some changes to the Rewards program. Vague -- as usual for such e-mails so you can't tell much. Did seem to be focusing heavily on the business aspect, however.

We saw this on some forum:

All Staples Rewards® members are eligible for ink and toner recycling rewards if the member has spent at least $30 in ink and/or toner purchases at Staples over the previous 180 days. Ink and/or toner purchases made on the date of recycling are calculated toward minimum purchase requirement. Limit of number of cartridges recycled each month varies by member tier.

............Any help on the meaning of that last sentence? What are tiers as they pertain to number of cartridges per month? I went to that link they give but it is useless.
For full program details, visit staples.com/rewards.

reply: It was 10 for base, 20 for plus ($500 spend/year), 20 for premier ($1000 spend/year). The limits are still the same but they've eliminated the plus tier.
