When I saw this pin on Pinterest I KNEW I had to share it because I remember having a conversation about canned mandarin oranges with my buisness partner Julie. She was upset that she couldn’t find canned mandarin oranges in the grocery stores that were not made in China.
Now I argued with her that they are called “Mandarin” oranges because they are Chinese, hense the name. But she wasn’t buying it (my line OR the made in China oranges).
So this one is for you Julie… can your own. We get those Cuties coupons all the time this year so this is super simple and really looks easy. I think I am going to give it a try!

My twins birthday is on Halloween however because it falls on a weekday this year it makes it sort of hard to have a birthday party because the kids are in school and then they want to go trick-or-treating or families have plans. So we decided to do a small party here at the house yesterday and they were allowed to pick out what they wanted for dinner. Carly wanted tortellini and Liam wanted hamburgers. But I told them that they had to agree on what they wanted. Carly hates hamburgers and Liam hates tortellini but they both love Chinese food. So they compromised and we came up with a menu of Beef with Broccoli, egg rolls and pot stickers (cake and ice cream too of course!).
So mommy went looking on Pinterest for a recipe for Beef with Broccoli and after looking through a couple of different recipes settled on this one from Rainy Day Gal because it looked easy enough and didn’t require any weird ingredients.
I doubled the recipe to make 8 servings instead of four and added a teaspoon of ground ginger to the marinade and it was PERFECT. In fact everyone said that I needed to put it in my tried and true recipe folder (I use Evernote to organize my recipes and just about my entire life!). We tossed frozen egg rolls in the oven and heated up frozen potstickers on the stove. I don’t have a wok, so I used my electric skillet and it was just fine!
The little party was a great sucess and the kids had a great time.
Have I mentioned that I LOVE FALL? I do, I really do. I love the turning of the leaves, I love little kids in cute costumes with sticky candy smeared faces. I love the smell of a Yankee Candle Autumn Wreath scented candle burning. I love a cup of hot apple cider and I love food made with pumpkin. I always stock up right after Christmas when they put it on clearance and is super cheap (like 50¢ or less per can). But it is starting to get sad in my stockpile…I am down to only 4 cans of pumpkin. But THIS recipe for Pumpkin Cinnamon rolls is worthy I think….for sure!
Check out these Caramel Stuffed Apple Cider cookies! Don’t they just scream “Autumn”? What I think is brilliant is that they use that powdered apple cider drink mix (the kind you find near the hot cocoa in the grocery store) and Kraft caramels. Yum!
