Reminder: Send Your Expired Coupons To Our Military Families Overseas!

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

CouponsToTroops LogoHey guys, I wanted to just post a quick reminder as you are cleaning out your coupon binders and boxes that our military families stationed overseas can use your expired coupons up to 6 months past their expiration date.

HotCouponWorld’s sister site Coupons To Troops is where you can sign up to be matched with a military family to send your expired coupons to.

Simply fill out the sign up form to adopt a family and Lesley will match you up with a family just as soon as possible (the first of the month is always a busy time for her). Once you have your families information simply ship off your package of coupons. Our military families sacrifice so much for us and this is a great little way to help them out to save a little money!

Send Your Expired Coupons To Overseas Military Families

Saturday, December 3rd, 2011

As we start off December and many of us are cleaning and organizing for the holidays, you may be wondering what to do with all your expired coupons. Did you know our overseas military families can use expired coupons up to 6 months after the expiration date? You can clean your house and help some of our military families who sacrifice every day to serve their country by sending them your expireds.

An easy way to get hooked up with a military family is through our sister site, CouponsToTroops. The staff there will match you up with a military family then you can communicate with them via email to find out their needs or just send a potluck. You can choose if you want to mail one time, monthly, quarterly; whatever works for you. As long as you are sending to a APO or FPO military address, then it’s the same rate as it would be to mail within the U.S. Also, envelopes going to our Puerto Rico or Guam wives will be the same rate as well.

Because coupons take a little longer to get delivered overseas, if you want to join CouponsToTroops in their efforts for the Christmas season, I suggest you contact them now. First class and priority post packages/envelopes need to be mailed by 12/10/2011 to ensure receipt by Christmas in most areas.  Email admin@couponstotroops.com or use the Adopt an Overseas Family Link on Facebook to adopt a family today!

What a great way to say thank you to some very deserving folks!

Forgotten or Expired Coupons

Nothing pains me more than to realize my coupon is expired or forgotten at home. If you forgot your coupon or have an expired coupon, here are some tips to prevent or correct this situation.

Preventive Tips:

Mark your Calendar – If you have a great coupon or rewards coupon (such as CVS Extra Bucks or Best Buy Rewards) mark the expiration date on your calendar. You can also make a notation to use the coupon at least a week or two before it expires.

Use the Coupon Immediately – If you use the coupon as soon as possible you decrease your chance of forgetting or losing it. Also if you wait until the last minute to use the coupon you may be unable to make it to the store (if you get sick, etc.)

Coupon Organizer – If you use a coupon organizer you can identify coupons which may expire soon by placing them in a certain location or using a sticky tab on the soon to expire coupons.

Coupon=Wallet – Treat your coupons like dollar bills and bring them wherever you would bring your wallet. Using a coupon organizer makes it easier to transport your coupons in the car or store similar to a wallet holding your dollar bills.

Corrective Tips

Ask if Store Accepts Expired Coupons – Some stores will accept expired coupons, especially if it is a store coupon such as Bed and Bath. If a manufactures coupon is only a day or two expired, some stores will also accept the coupon.

Ask about Coupon Reimbursement – If you forget your coupons, ask if the store will reimburse you the next time you shop. Most stores will reimburse you the coupons amount if you bring the coupon and receipt to customer service the next time you shop.

Call Customer Service – If you let a rewards coupon expire (such as CVS Extra Bucks or Best Buy Rewards) and the store will not accept the coupon trying calling customer service. One time my Best Buy Rewards coupon expired and the store would not accept it. After calling customer service, I was sent a “one time re-issue” of the rewards coupon.

Other Suggestions

Donate Expired Coupons - U.S. military families stationed overseas are able to use expired coupons on base for up to six months after the manufacturer’s expiration date. You can adopt a base by going to the following website: COUPONS TO TROOPS

Hotcouponworld also offers a coupon trading forum just for expired coupons, this is a great way to exchange your expired coupons for coupons you can use. Expired Coupon Trading Forum.
