Tips for Selling on EBay
Saturday, May 28th, 2011
Selling your unwanted household goods, clothing and other items on eBay can be a great way to earn extra money. However learning how to tread the waters of how to get started can be a little overwhelming.
First of all you will need to go to eBay.com and you will need to register and then set up a sellers account. Once you set up a sellers account they will identify your identity with a credit card. Your personal information will be kept private. Next you will need to set up a PayPal account and get verified there too. Again it is an easy process. This is done so that you are set and ready to pay your fees once a month.
There are 3 types of fees associated with eBay.
Insertion Fees: Insertion fees are charged when you list an item. The charges depend on the starting price of your item. For example if your starting price is between 1¢ and 99¢ then your insertion fee is 10¢. If your starting price is between $1.00 and $9.99 then the insertion fee is 25¢.
Final Value Fees: This fee is charged when your auction ends and is calculated as a percentage of the final selling price. For example if you sell an item for $95.00 your final value fee would be calculated like this: 9% of $95.00 = $8.55.
Listing Upgrades: If you elect to add subtitles or extra pictures, there is an additional charge. The first picture in your eBay listing is free, after that, all other pictures are charged 15¢ each.
