Holiday Gift Idea: Gingerbread Sugar Scrub

Holiday Gift Idea

Gingerbread Body Scrub

I was out and about yesterday and happened to be in the neighborhood of my local Dollar Tree store. It’s not a store I shop at frequently (Dollar Tree does not accept coupons) but from time to to time I pop in to see if there are any treasures to be found. I found a few goodies (stocking stuffers for the kids, a kitchen timer since I am always loosing mine that I keep for “10 second tidy” time with the kids. But the real treasure was that I found these great clamp lidded glass jars for only a dollar. I immediately thought homemade Christmas gifts when I saw these great glass jars. A few kitchen staple ingredients and spices (my Dollar Tree had some cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg for only a dollar too) and I have the makings for a great inexpensive gift.

I figured the cost for each gift was about $2 per jar for the ingredients and the jar. These make perfect gifts for teachers, aunts, moms, grandmas, girlfriends, co-workers or just keep a jar or two on hand for yourself.

I keep a jar near the kitchen sink and my husband loves it for scrubbing up his filthy hands when he comes home from work. He works a pretty dirty job delivering Coca-Cola all day, driving truck, and handling pallets and boxes of soda. This Gingerbread Cookie Sugar Scrub leaves his hands a little softer, which as his wife, I appreciate!

Ingredients:

1 Cup White Granulated Sugar
1 Cup Brown Sugar
2 Teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
2 Teaspoons Ground Ginger
2 Teaspoons Ground Nutmeg
2 Teaspoons Ground Allspice
1 Cup Vegetable Oil (or olive oil, almond oil, canola oil, grape seed oil, etc)
1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Directions:
In a bowl mix all ingredients except oil and vanilla until combined.
Pour oil and vanilla into sugar and spice mixture and stir again until combined.
Scoop into lidded jar or container and label container for gift giving.

For the gift tags I have created a download for you to print out your own gift tags. I suggest printing on card stock. – Download Gingerbread Sugar Scrub Gift Tags

Book Two in Deborah Grace Staley’s series about love and life in Angel Ridge, Tennessee. Dr. Janice Thornton has been lonely for too long, especially at Christmas. Local contractor and carpenter Blake Ferguson comes from a big family. He’d like to fill his rambling old Victorian with one of his own. But there’s one problem. He needs a wife! When Janice shows up at his house, Blake sets a course to win her, but soon finds she’s built a wall around her heart this master carpenter finds difficult to dismantle. Can the magic of an Angel Ridge Christmas bring hearts home or will old hurts create an obstacle even the town’s legendary angels can’t overcome?
