Fabric softener takes baked on food right off without scrubbing. Just pour a little on the pan/bowl/plate/etc, leave for a minute or two, then rinse. Usually takes the food right off!

I do something similar with white vinegar and hot water. It takes a bit more than a minute or two though.

little trick for a garbage disposal, if you have a extra ice tray put vinegar in it over night and then the next day let the garbage disposal grind up the vinegar ice and it will be cleaner and more sanitized =)

OVEN CLEANER
1 cup or more baking soda
water
a squirt or two of liquid detergent

Sprinkle water generously over the bottom of the oven, then cover the grime with enough baking soda that the surface it totally white. Sprinkle some more water over the top. Let the mixture set overnight. You can easily wipe up the grease the next morning because the grime will have loosened. When you have cleaned up the worst of the mess, dab a bit of liquid detergent or soap on a sponge, and wash the remaining residue from the oven. If this recipe doesn’t work for you it is probably because you didn’t use enough baking soda and/or water.

I waited a couple of weeks to post this because I wanted to make sure that they worked well.

I've had this problem for awhile. I can never find inexpensive, but good quality kitchen rags. Either they have hardly little loops, or are very thin and don't hold water, or they fall apart at the seems after a few washes. And you pay an arm and leg for the privilege of using these crappy rags.

So, I was looking to buy something quality in bulk & I came across some guy's blog. He had found microfiber rags 14x14, package of 20, at Costco in the auto goods department, for $10. I guess they were meant for cleaning/washing your car. But he said they worked for cleaning his house & for that price, were a steal. Well, I don't have a membership at costco, but another lady here found them at her costco, so they still do carry them. In the meantime, I found them at Target, packs of 12 for $7.99 & $9.99 (14 & 16 inch square). Yes, one set was neon orange & the smaller clothes were cream or gray with orange serging-lol! But I picked up a pack of each & tried them out.

They are fabulous!!!! I can't say this enough. First, they hold a ton of water, so you have to wring out well. Also, you only have to use a tiny tiny bit of soap (I just realized, I bet these would be great in the bath as well). Anyway, they didn't leave streaks on the glass or chrome; they worked great for wiping down counters & even scrubbing bits of food stuff up. They work great for dusting (really holds the dust). The price is unbelievable! If you got a dozen microfiber rags in the housewares department, you'd probably pay at least $20 (not that they even sell them...at least not that I've ever noticed). But since its a "mans" item, then you are getting it for less (they do that with shirts as well, but thats another story-lol).

There were 2 very small downsides. First, when they are dry,they cling to the imperfections on your skin. Doesn't bother me, but it might bother someone...doesn't happen if the rag is wet. Also, seems to hold a stain. This isn't a big deal for me because we use them primarily for cleaning. Also, dh was the one who washed them; so I'm going to try and use a bit of color safe bleach & see if that removes the stains.

So, if you are looking for excellent, cheap cleaning rags, go the Target or Costco (or maybe even Walmart) & check out the rags in the automotive accessory department...by the car cleaning supplies.

I bought my microfiber cloths at Walmart last year end of summer they were on clearance for 10c each. And yes they are neon orange, green, and blue but at least I can find them easily. I bought like 50 of them. Love em.
