Starting and Using a Coupon Wishlist

• A Wish List at Hot Coupon World is the list you use longterm and update regularly to help you make trades for things you need in exchange for these things that you have.
  
  Your Wish List can be changed to add new coupons that you need daily, weekly or even monthly. Whatever works best for you.
  
  You are able to have only 1 wishlist in the forum.
  For quick trades of a few items, please post in the Trades Current Coupon & Offers Forum. This is in addition to your wishlist.
  
  What to put on your Wish List:
• Go through your pantry/kitchen and think about the things that you buy on a regular basis or would like to stock up on.
• Check upcoming weekly sale ads in the store forums and add items that will help you save for that sale week.
• Inserts from other regions that will help you save more than what you received locally
• Internet Printed Coupons that you would like more of (be aware of traders who offer many of the same IP)
• Non inserts found all over the country!
• rebate forms valid in your state
• Other ideas:
  rainchecks
  box tops for education
  stamps
  paypal
  movie rewards
  my coke rewards points
• You can also get ideas from the wishlists and have lists of other members.
  
  
  Notes that are good to include with your list:
• what stores you shop at
• if you can use internet printed coupons and if they must be in color
• if you can double coupons
• if you trade coupon for coupon only
• if you prefer paypal, revolution money exchange or stamp trades
• any other item or coupon that you would like to trade for that is not found in the database. (must not be on the list of items not allowed to be traded)

When you create your list in the database it looks like there is not a place for this info. Once you click "update post" the text box will pop up for you to add these notes. The notes will appear at the top of your list when it posts in the forum.

How to create your Wish List:

We suggest using the coupon database to create your list. This is a much faster method that typing everything out in long form although some members do prefer to do that. Using the database allows members to immediately match up items on their lists to yours for trading purposes in addition to looking at your list in the forum.

Use the search box to locate coupons for the items you want.
As you find things you would like to trade for, select "Wish List" from the dropdown box to the left of the search box in the action column.
Next rank it by high, medium and low need.

Add as many things as you want. There is also a "notes" box to the far right where you can make special notations such as "I need this value only" or "this coupon must be able to double"
When you are done, there is one final step. You need to next get your list into the forum so others can make trades with you.

To publish your list into the Wish List forum click the wishlist tab in the database area. Then click update post.
A text box will appear where you can add in the suggested notes above, notes of your own and any other info you want included for trading purposes.
This info will remain saved and will post at the top of your list each time you update.
Next click submit.

If you are going to put a link to your list in your signature, also copy the URL to your list. Read below for how to add that signature link.

Maintaining your Wish List:

Once your list is created in the database and put into the forum, the infomation is stored in the database. You can go in at any time to add more items the same way as you did when you first created your list.

You can update existing items on your list by clicking the wishlist tab in the database.

Each time that you change your list, up to once daily, you will need to click the wishlist tab and the update post tab so your old list in the forum is replaced by the newly updated list.

How to get a link in your signature to your list(s):
It is easiest to keep these instructions open in one window and do the links in another.

• Open up your wishlist or havelist page and right click and copy the URL(web address). When you click update post and then click submit your newly updated list will pop up for you to view. You can grab the url easily each time.
• Go to your user Control Panel (look at the orange bar that runs across the top of the HCW page. You should see "User CP" on the left).
• Next, click "edit signature" on the left-hand side.
• In the text box, type a name for your list like, "My havelist" or "Joe's ISO's" or soemthing like that.
• With your mouse, highlight the name you just typed.
• Click on the hyperlink icon. This looks like a little globe with a couple of chain links in front of it. You'll find it above the box where you typed the text, where the buttons for bold, italics, etc. are found.
• When you click the hyperlink icon, a little box will pop up. There's a http:// already in there. Delete that and paste your previously copied web address for your list and click OK. Your text should turn blue.
• Click save signature. Your wishlist is now in your signature and will appear each time you post!

Also, please note that up to date lists help all members make trades. Wish Lists that have not been udpated or edited for 6 months or more will be removed from the forum.
Lists belonging to members that have not logged in for 2 months or more may also be removed from the forum. If you have any questions or need any help please feel free to pm me, sunshinesmom. Thanks!

Where is the wishlist tab? The only way I can figure out how to edit my wishlist is to use a direct link and edit it. But that doesn't seem to "bump" the thread to the top of the list in the wishlists forum...

I just looked at your wishlist and you created your wishlist in the forum not the database. The wishlist tab is in the database when you use it to create your list. I just bumped your wishlist for you. You will see it at the top of the wishlist forum now. You can do it yourself as well whenever you update it.

Is there an update tab in the Form Wishlist or Have list section? I could not find it and therefore posted in the form then copied the URL then changed it in my sign.
Is the correct?

I want to make sure before start using the Have list.

I do see your wishlist in the coupon database. I'm not sure what's happening, but giving this a bump so maybe someone will see it soon.
