Having just left Oahu yesterday, I think the entire state of Hawaii needs coupons! 2 for $10 for milk about had me sick to my stomach - and that was the sales price!!!! The grocery store pained me so badly, they almost had to scrape me off the floor! I don't see how people live over there - my group would be skinny as rails - I'd had to put us all on ration with those prices!

Hey, I'm actually in Oahu :) But yes.. our prices here ARE ridiculous! Not to mention, we don't have the great stores that you guys have :( No CVS! No Target! Well, they're actually building one here finally! But it won't be ready til next year :frown:

Yes, it was a great vacation - my boys loved it, and needless to say, we propped up the Hawaiian economy while we were there!

Ahh, I wish I'd have known you were here... could've told you some spots to check out! No doubt you were probably staying in Waikiki, the prices are probably the scariest over there. I avoid that place at all costs. But the only Walgreens on the island is less than 10 minutes from there! Did you get a chance to tour the island? We've got some pretty awesome beaches here... and not just Waikiki Beach!

Actually, DH is military, so we stayed at the Barber's point beach cottages near the Ko Olina resorts, so pretty far from Waikiki. We shopped and did laundry in Ewa Beach area, but even some of the commissary prices were outrageous for certain items. We only made it to Waikiki the last day, which I'd been to 14 years ago and it was tourist-y then, it certainly was now. And the beach wasn't very clean in Waikiki, so I wouldn't stay there. Where we were the beach was pretty pristine.

And yes, we did lots of touring and activities! The kids had a blast and the people were really friendly! I just couldn't live there permanently between the bugs and the high grocery prices!!!

Hmmm. Barber's point cottages... can't say I know where that is :lol6: I didn't think you'd be in the Ewa Beach area! Some places there are a little scary, hah! But Ko Olina is beautiful... a bunch of nice lagoons there... and yes, Waikiki beach is definitely dirty. I think the water is practically white from all the sunscreen in it
