Hello from the Panhandle of Florida

I found this site last night after watching a marathon of Extreme Couponing. I decided that since my husband's job has been less than reliable in the steady income lately that I really need to cut back on expenses and if I could even save $20 a week on grocery and household items it would help.

I read all the basics and this morning I printed out some coupons, looked online at the sales for Publix and Walmart. Since both stores are across the street from each other, then it would be no extra expense to do 2 stops.

Total today I saved, $26 and some change. I was really excited because one of the coupons I printed out was for Hamburger Helper Buy 4 and save 80 cents. Not much of a bargain but Publix had them for BOGO so I actually saved 80 cents on 2 since 2 of my 4 boxes were free. At least I hope that I am looking at that correctly...lol..if not don't burst my bubble just yet.

We have 2 dogs that my DH (darling husband) seems to think that although we free feed them dry food, they should also have 1 can of wet food every night. We've been buying them the Alpo can food (they seem to like that brand best) from Walmart for 78 cents per can. I found the coupon online for buy 10 and get $1.50 off. I printed 2 and bought 20 cans. Now to show I paid attention, some of the cans we got had the same coupon on them that I had printed out. While at the check out, I was going to just use the coupons on the cans and save the ones I printed but then I remembered what I had read last night and check the expiration dates and I used the 2 I printed because they expire the end of Feb but the ones on the cans don't expire until Apr 2014!

So, I know I have a long way to go but I was excited I saved $6 more today than what I was hoping to save. Now I am coupon hooked and hope to one day be a pro.

Thanks for the welcome. i'm not quite ready for trading coupons because I don't have any yet, other than the ones I printed yesterday.

I spent a couple of hours last night contacting different companies and signing up on company websites for their newsletters.

Lucky you in the panhandle. I had planned a few days in Destin for May, but, my husband just bought a new business so we are wedded to the building for a long time.

As an aside, since you live in a vacation destination, where do you go for vacation? Always wondered where beach people go for a few days' off.

As has been said earlier, ask all the questions you wish. There is no such thing as a stupid question. Well, yes, there is. The question you DON'T ask! We are all here to help one another.

Actually up until last year, I didn't do vacations...lol. I celebrated my 5th anniversary last September and we went on a 7 night cruise to the Western Caribbean. I did the one in September with my DH and then turned around and booked a Pack&Go rate with my daughter for October. I ended up doing 2 cruises in 2 months. So now I am seriously addicted to cruising. Thus another great reason to save money by couponing...lol...I have another cruise booked for this coming September.

The funny thing about the cruises going to places with great beaches, while most people are going to the beaches, I am doing lots of other things. In Cozumel I did an awesome Mexican Cuisine Cooking and Tasting Excursion. In Belize we did Mayan Ruins, an Island tour in Isla Roatan and did do something with the water in Grand Cayman, we went swimming with wild sting rays.

My upcoming cruise is going to the same ports just on a different ship, there's a Salsa & Salsa excursion I want to do in Cozumel. They teach you how to make 7 different types of authentic salsas and teach you how to dance the Salsa...lol. I love cooking and my DH loves dancing. Going to swim with the rays again in Grand Cayman because our friends going with us want to do it and it is such an incredible experience, I'll do it again and again. DH wants to actually go to the beach in Roatan not sure what to do in Belize, might just stay on the ship and relax.
