I'm very new to couponing and sale shopping in general. I have always called myself not a true woman because I hate shopping. I'm in and out as quick as possible just grabbing what I want/need, whether it be groceries or clothes.

I'm home with a new baby now so our income has significantly dropped and I'm want to try to start saving money. I think we probably spend a lot more money on groceries than we should, so that's a good place to start.

Will appreciate any help offered! Especially recommendations about the best store to shop at (I have Hannaford's, Price Chopper, and Shaw's nearby). I have always shopped at Hannaford's because it is the closest, but they don't double coupons or anything.

Also, the first time I tried using some coupons (a few days ago) I found that it was still cheaper to buy the generic version. Made me wonder if it's really worthwhile, but I guess double coupons remedies that?

Hello. The trick to getting name brand merchandise cheaper than the generic stuff is to utilize sales and a coupon and, if possible, a rebate.

Learning the art of stockpiling is also key to becoming a true "Deal Diva." When something you buy regularly goes on sale, trade or buy coupons from a clipping service or ebay and stockpile at the low price. That way when the price is high, you don't have the need to buy that item.

Drug store deals should also top your list of things to learn about right away. You can pretty much get toiletries regularly for pennies on the dollar and, many times, free.
