    Default duplicate transaction problem

everytime i go to wies i hit a issue.

so i went in today for the edys ice cream deal i got 8 boxes all different flavors. i told the girl i was going to do 2 per transaction . ok fine great. 1st one goes fine i get my 4.00 cert to use on the 2nd , 2nd fine agAin my total was 2.67 after catilina. 3rd transaction a error comes up dup trasaction , the manager comes tells me i cant just buy the ice cream i have to buy something with the ice cream , what??? right so they made me grab something else at check out to buy my ice cream. so i end up spends extra 2 plus bucks just to get my deal. anyone ever seen this before ? i totally think its crap. they has to be a over ride key. im sure its there to prevent the same thing going thru twice , but i shouldnt have to buy more stuff just to check out.

Were you paying with a credit card? I work at a grocery store and our system is set up to not allow duplicate orders totaling the same amount within a period of time (I think 15 minutes) if you're paying with the same credit card. It might be a pain, but it's really for your protection, so it's something you'll have to plan for in the future.

Pay with cash, alternate cards, or just switch registers next time.

That is really weird. Ive never seen something like that. As far as I know, the catalina deals are unlimited unless there is a limit stated. If the person you spoke to wasn't the store manager, I would contact the store manager. If you get no satisfaction, definitely send corporate a message through their contact me link on their website. I can't see how they can tell you that you have to buy other stuff. You still owed cash after the catalina, so I'm not understanding what their problem was. Perhaps they were jealous of a good deal. If you don't get any satisfaction, please let me know and I'll see what I can do for you.

I am assuming she is talking about not being able to pay for the exact same amount on her credit card for multiple subsequent transactions. This has nothing to do with a catalina.

Ah ok. I misread it the first time. I was thinking they wouldn't allow her to keep doing the catalina deals.

i had the same problem with the Edy's. it has to do with your credit card, and as the OP mentioned, it is for your own protection. it is to prevent multiple transactions from being processed.
just try to mix up your orders a tad. like, two ice creams one time, an ice cream and a cone the next time, etc.
