I tried to post a reply the other night, but I guess it took me too long to type it all out that it timed out on me, and I LOST EVERYTHING, grrr, and didn't have time to type it all again.

In July DH had busted his knee and two weeks later we thought he had developed a blood clot, as a result. However, we found out that it was not a blood clot. It was announced that they found Lung Cancer, (already in Stage 4!) and it had already spread to his brain.

It is a non-small cell cancer that is growing at a rapid pace. (In Feb., a lung xray showed NONE of this!) There is a mass growing up his aorta, and pressing on the nerve that controls his left vocal cord, paralyzing it.

Originally he was told that he might have 6 months to live w/o surgery and treatment, maybe a year with it.
The pulmonologist, said he didn't give him 30 days w/o surgery.
They had a pretty full surgery schedule, and the only way they could get him in time, was to schedule him for surgery on his birthday.

On his b'day they removed a baseball size mass from his lung.

He came home the end of that week. He hasn't been able to keep anything down. He had one radiation treatment that day, and decided he couldn't return. It was too painful w/ the huge incision, broken knee and pressure on his chest.

He was supposed to start chemo after his incisions were healed, but he wasn't up to it.

He is in so much pain.

I called Hospice, and they came over and got him set up w/ everything Friday night. They got him started on 5 new meds, one of which is to control the nausea and vomiting. However, it makes him sleep alot. He has pretty much been living on the couch, since he came home from the hospital. Since he started on the nausea med, he now has no appetite, and hasn't eaten anything in the last few days.

Last night the hospice nurse prescribed something to increase his appetite, but we couldn't get it because the pharmacy was closed for the night.
So I was able to pick it up after church today, and he was able to eat a bowl of soup, about an hour ago.

The ads are a nice distraction for me, since couponing is my only hobby. Even though I may not be posting as much, I'm not too far away from this board. I have several days off work for the holiday, so I should be around a good bit.

Sorry to hear of your situation. I'm dealing with a lot of cancer issues in life as well. My aunt has stage 4 liver cancer, grandmother just beat throat cancer and a dear friend of mine just died on Friday of throat and lung cancer. You and your family are in my prayers. I know this has to be hard on you and your family, but just remember.......God won't give you anything he doesn't think you can handle.
