Wal-Mart accepts the following types of coupons (see guidelines below):
  • Manufacturer coupons (Cents Off)
  • Free merchandise (or Buy-One-Get-One-Free) coupons
  • Store coupons
  • Pharmacy (Advertising and Promotional) coupons
  • Internet coupons
  • Soft drink container caps
The following are guidelines and limits:
  • Wal-Mart only accepts coupons for merchandise we sell and only when presented at the time of purchase.
  • Coupons should have an expiration date and be presented within the valid dates. Wal-Mart will not accept expired coupons.
  • Internet coupons should be legible and say "Manufacturer Coupon." There should be a valid remit address for the manufacturer and a scannable bar code.
  • Only one coupon per item is permitted.
  • Use of 40 or more coupons per transaction will require approval by Customer Service Manager.

Here is the coupon policy copied from the first page. Overage and competitor's coupons are YMMV, meaning that it is up to your store manager whether they are taken or overage is given. If you have problems, some members have had success with talking to the store manager and/or calling corporate and asking if the store gives overage on coupons or if they take competitor's coupons. I know my WM does not take other store's coupons (like WAG or Target). They do give overage most of the time.

no one has really addressed the issue of price matching with stores that have store cards. almost all stores have store cards these days, so it almost seems impossible to get a price match of any kind if they wont do it with a store that has store cards. i would like to price match a product that harris teeter has on sale but is out of stock.

I went to SWM this morning and priced matched an item. When I gave her my coupons she said "You can not price match and then use a coupon. It's one or the other." I told her that I've done it before and they asked who the cashier was because it's not allowed. Then she read the coupons and it said "one per purchase" and she said I'm only allowed 1 for everything. I told her to split it all up into separate transactions and we'll do it that way. I even talked to the manager and tried to explain what "one per purchase" means, but she didn't get it. In the end I had to do 9 transactions. Took forever.

But, I only paid tax. So, I guess it's worth it.

Rite Aid q's are fantastic this week, so I called corporate, and they told me to call the store manager because it differs at various stores. So I called my Oneonta, Ny store and I was told that they accept q's from competitors as long as it says manufacture coupon on top and it does not say "Good Only" anywhere else. It can say "Good At", but but "ONLY". Such a distinction screwed up my plans, but they do overage, so no big complaints here. My advice, call your store.

Do you have a popup blocker on? If not, and you are not using Internet Explorer, try using it - I couldn't get it to open right in Firefox.

I got it now thank you.
I emailed them and asked
I have a coupon policy question.
When I have a coupon for $1 off an item and the shelf price is $.79 how is the coupon redeemed? I do not see this on your online coupon policy. Does the remaining $.21 go toward the rest of your order?
Thank you for clearing this up.
Sincerely,
Dee XXXX

It's a manufacturer coupon, they do take them. If you get resistance then ask for managers.
