    QUESTION price matching question

the walmart price matching policy states that the customer does not have to have a copy of the ad with them to get the matched price, but in that case, how does the cashier know how much to charge? do they just take your word for it? I could see that being a real problem but if you have 5 different sale papers and have to show them each ad for each item you could be there forever. Any tips for price matching without holding up the line forever?

Sometimes they take your word for it if it's a simple enough ad match: Pepsi 2 liter for 99 cents. They are supposed to have the ads on hand though. In theory, I find for most ad matches it is easier if I just bring the ad myself unless it's something really simple. Saves me a headache..and your supposed to be ad matching exactly the same thing so the ad helps you know exactly ounce/flavor/kind ect if needed.

as for holding up the line? I let people know if I"m doing a lot of ad matching, and I have also been known to do more then one transaction, go through get a lot of my non ad matching done, and then go back and get my ad matching stuff and perishables and then go through the line again.

I just tell the folks behind me I coupon and that I'll be a while. Sometimes, if my cart is completely full, the cashier will just put the "closed" sign up behind my order (they all know me)

Sometimes, cashier just takes my word for it BUT in case they start looking for the ad, I show mine with the item and price encircled, to make it easier for both of us. They appreciate the gesture and trxn usually run smooth.

It would be best to have your copy of the ad with you to avoid wasting time in case they have to check the price. Most often, price difference is just cents, they take customer's word for it BUT if price difference is over a dollar, they look for the ad (I'll do the same thing so I don't mind). That's my experience so far with no problems.

I had this question a while back. They are supposed to have the ads at their register.

FYI You can price match from any store as long as you have the ad. They only price match the ad for local stores, but if you have an ad from out of town, they will match it.

Unfortunately for me, they won't price match with their own stores. If I want reasonable prices at walmart, I have to drive 45 minutes.

They wont match another WM!! Once they wanted me to pay $2 to do an even exchange for size because I had bought something in the "big city" where everything is cheaper. But my small town WM is very good about price matching without an ad. In the bigger city WM I usually try to have the ad.
