Default My fraudulent coupon & experience at Walmart

So I went to Walmart today to get a few things. I gathered all of my stuff and went to check out. Okay now I totally admit the Cashier Profiling... so I pick a young male cashier whom I had checked out with before, but not with my coupons. I remembered him as being very nice & easygoing.

Fraudulent coupon: The lady in front of me had coupons as well, and one of the was an IP and it wouldn't scan. I generally don't pay much attention to others checking out, but her IP's were very small, like she shrunk them down to fit more on a page. At least that's what I figured anyways. So her coupon that wouldn't scan was a Tide coupon. The cashier didn't want to take it because it wouldn't scan, so I figured I would be nice and offer her one of my tide q's so she would get her deal. I asked her if it was the $2 off Tide, she says No, it's $9 off. $9 OFF!!!! So of course I want that q! I come home and google it. IT'S COUNTERFEIT!!!! Here is the link:

    http://www.couponinformationcenter.c.../P&G530790.pdf

    What a shiesty chic!!!!

Now for my WTF experience. This cashier, whom I had profiled & figured would be easygoing and polite about my q's, was a total jerk! He absolutely scrutinized every single q I had and even accused me of cutting the expiration date off of a $1 off Johnson & Johnson q when he couldn't find it! I pointed it out to him in the red strip running down the side of the coupon. Then, he scoffed like I intentionally hid it from him. Then I was using the Free pasta when you buy 2 ragu pasta sauces. I got 8 jars of alfredo sauce and 4 Barilla pastas, he kept telling me you have to get PASTA sauce. I said I did, I got the Ragu. He goes, yes but this says Pasta sauce. I said Alfredo sauce IS pasta sauce. He goes "fine, but still..." Then the q took off $1.75 and wouldn't let him adjust it down to the $.98 that the pasta cost. He got mad at me and called over the CSM. I'm thinking 'great, here we go...' The CSM tells him to adjust it down and he again, gets all mad at me!. THEN.... I was using the $.75 off WYB Betty Crocker cake mix and Frosting. I had 4 of the q's and 4 each of the frostings. The first 3 scanned, but the 4th wouldn't scan, kept beeping and printing the journal. He says "I'm just not going to take this one." Then he kept my q!!!! By that time I just was ready to get out of there.

Hey there, thanx for the heads up.: I'd heard Qs have to have their manu address clear, so if I'm printing I throw away if it isn't clear, but ...the rest... had no idea! coupons1:

I don't know how long you've been couponing, but the huge red flags of the size of the ladies coupons plus the amount would have had me asking her if they were fraudulent Seriously, I sooooo would have!

Tide has *never* ever come out with a $9 coupon! Not even close! I would have suggested to the cashier to call over the manager and have the manager see those coupons and check them for fraud.

    I'm evil that way

That first lady w/ that fake coupon is probably why that kid was a total jerk to you. It's always possible. $9.00 coupon? WTH? There's no way she could possibly think that was a real coupon. I'm assuming she was trying to use it on a smaller item in order to get back more money?

It's people like her that are going to make retailers become less lenient about coupon usage.

Well, she had 2 coupons and 2 big bottles of Tide. But I don't get it, he was kind of crappy to her too so I guess it's possible he was cranky because of her. But telling me that Alfredo sauce doesn't count as pasta sauce??? He was pointing at the picture showing Marinara sauce. I guess it's possible that he thought pasta sauce was only red.

I've been couponing for about 2 years now. But I've never seen a shrunken q before. Side note, I would have paid money to see you punk her out for a fraudulent coupon in the checkout line. HAHAA!

Sadly, WM does not do enough training of employees on coupon use, #1.

#2, young cashiers who don't grocery shop don't have a clue how to read a coupon and realize what a pasta sauce product can be, such as your example. Heck, even some older guys don't know, they have never grocery shopped

And since your cashier was obviously lacking in coupon training, the hassle he had with her (and perhaps others prior), set you up for failure unfortunately. Well, not failure, but hassle, where you had to educate and cajole and push to get what was right.

And after 30 years of couponing, I suffer no fools when it comes to fraud or a customer giving a cashier a hard time for the WRONG reasons

I've stood in line and quoted coupon store policy at some grocery stores when some fool decides to hold up the line arguing with the cashier and it's clear they have no idea what the store policy is. Ya, I'm one of those

But darn it, a good cashier shouldn't be hassled! A bad cashier needs too much work for me to bother with them, it's not my job to educate them

Since P&G doesn't ever put out printable coupons, that Tide was a fraud right off the bat.

Sorry he treated you like that though. Sounds like a bad day since he was nice before. Who knows what he had going on...(no excuses, just a thought)

I hear ya. Dangit, I wish I would have known that q was definitely counterfeit at the time. I would have love to been able to tell her right in fron of the CSM. You know, just a concerned fellow coupon shopper, wouldn't want her to get arrested or anything! ::wink::

Some people are just very uneducated these days. Its sad.
I had a Wags cashier tell me I couldn't use a Kleenex coupon because the coupon said "facial tissue" and she didn't see those words on the kleenex box.

#1 P&G coupons are never printable.
#2 The value was way off from what a printable coupon should be
    #3 Shrunk coupon LOL
#4 Wont Scan (the store has every right to regect a printable coupon that wont scan)

Cashier profiling is what we all do. Personaly I know the cashiers at the store. I will wait until they call extra help to get me someone I like. But there are times I go to walmart and I dont have any cashiers that I know. But I do know that older ladies (like 60's or so) that are casheiring are the best. They usualy are very nice, don't mind coupons (unless they don't scan the first time), and congratulate you when you save money.
