Walmart not accepting $2.00/Tide OR $.50/Tide

I just came back from my Walmart where I had my whole trip planned out to include 4 of the $2.00/any Tide and 4 of the $.50/any Tide. I was going to use them on the trial size. The cashier and CSM both said that I can't use those on the trial size because they are P&G coupons and the trial size Tide is not distributed by P&G. Has anyone else run into this???

Kind of screwed my whole transaction up.

Yes, it has been hot topic for discussion in several boards. for more details go to Cotton Buds website and you can find the other trial sizes that P&G has licensed them to re-pack. We can expect P&G coupons beeping for trial downy, charmin, olay among a few of PG products.

At least we NOW know the reason why and each WM store is within their rights to reject such coupons for the trial size since Cotton Buds barcodes do not match P&G's. It may be worth trying their luck for most people to continue using PG coupons for trial sizes since it is, and will always be, YMMV depending on the WM you go to.

mine just started this crap too! im so steaming mad over it. just one more reason for me to hate walmart. too bad i live in a small town with very little options to shop at. I do shop at kroger, meijer etc but they are 25 miles one way so i try to do all of those trips in one day.

The coupon barcode does not match the tide trial, because P&G/Tide has sent the tide trial to another company to package. So they are completely different barcodes...thus they will beep..and say that you have purchased the wrong product each and every time.


P&G will still reimburse walmart but they cannot force walmart to take the coupon and have put on there, on there Tide FB page notifying customers that this is a YMMV, that expect that not all stores will take the coupon on the tide trial.

I NEVER use any coupon on the Tide trial for this very reason. I save up for when they put out the $2 coupons and I go purchase the smallest size at Family Dollar or Dollar General..and that is how I stockpile. I dislike Coupon drama immensely and this coupon causes a ton of drama.

This time it's not Walmart's fault.. Proctor and Gamble could have avoided this entire headache by putting 3 little words on the coupon.... "Excludes Trial Size"

Seriously, I really put the blame on all parties. There's no reason why a beep should stop a literate person from accepting the coupon. It does not say it has to be packaged by P&G.

It spits out the journal telling the cashier that the customer has not purchased the right product.

There is no way..they can get it to scan, and not spit out the journal,..they HAVE TO PUSH IT THROUGH.


So for all the cashier knows..if they let them purchase it they will get written up or fired.


And some of them may be.

Nope ...P&G should of just put not good on trial ..and saved us all and ginormous headache!!!

This is why I love this site so much. I was just getting ready to order 100+ of the $2 Tide coupons to use on the trial size. Now to go check out prices on smallest Tide @ DG and FD.
