QUESTION What constitutes a "Competitor" at Walmart?

So, here is the story, I have some coupons from another store (publix & meijer) that do follow Walmart's requirements for accepting store coupons (clearly states a price, product size and expiration date)
However, I live in a city that has neither of these stores (we only have Walmart & HEB)

I have read Walmart's competitor's coupon policy about 5 times and no ware do I see where it says the competitor has to be located within a certain distance from the store or anything to that effect.

Can I use these coupons at my local Walmart?

I suggest you go to your local WM and ask any salaried manager @ your local store prior to shopping to make sure they'll take it before you start buying the items and be rejected @ the register.

keep in mind that even if WM has an official policy, HQ allows individual stores per management discretion, to interpret the policies in a way to benefit sales @ their store. If you're not satisfied with the answer of an AM, ask for the SM and hopefully, you'll get their nod.

    Good luck!

It is up to each store if they will accept, however I find if the store is within a 20 mile radius of the store they usually accept it. You can always check with the M.O.D. to confirm if you can use it. Good luck!

My Walmart won't accept a price match unless the competitor is in the same town. There is another town 30 miles away and there are lots of people who live in one town and work in another (as I do) but they won't accept stores in the other town as competitors. I drive back and forth all the time, and as a matter of fact, drive right past the "competitor" store so it is actually quicker for me to stop at the other store than it is to drive 15 minutes to the Walmart in my own town.

yeah, it was a no. lol The manager told me that the store had to be a 30 minutes away from this store. I jokingly told him that Houston was a 30 minute trip by airplane. He didn't think it was so funny.

So the deals were a no go. oh well.
Really makes me miss our Albertsons. ever since HEB bought them out deals have taken a nosedive in our town.

Generally they have to be within about 30 minutes or so..give or take. If your town is the only town for miles...what is in your town is the competition. That is my town to a T.

I'm sorry to hear that, it is really YMMV. I know one who ad matches all over the country WITHOUT an ad. she told me she would even match clearance from small mom n pop stores (?!) while that reeks of being shady to me, nothing I can do since WM is the one that set themselves up for this with their NO ad needed TV commercials PLUS let stores interpret policy on their own Perfect combination for total chaos, IMO

There has been probably more deceit being used by people not using the add then people using the ad (I don't even want to tell you how people were doing it using the ad)

Save an employee's job..bring the ad folks

WM is the one to be blamed with their contradicting policy. They put in writing that ad matched item should be same size, flavor, brand, etc AND YET, they show on TV there's no need for an ad to PM?

What's the use of all their mumbo jumbo in their policies when they contradict themselves with TV commercials that MORE people have probably seen that read their online policy. It is WM that has set themselves for this, I'm sure they know what they're doing. Unfortunately, they may have the last laugh when they have managed to close all their competitors and then consumers will be at their mercy
