I tried to use my $1/1 Tide today on the travel size. I only grabbed 4 like the coupon states and it the coupon beeped and the cashier said she couldn't take it. I was with my 8 month old grandaughter and didn't pursue the issue. has anyone else had this problem with the tide coupons?

The problem with the Tide is that Tide (P&G) has a different company bottling the travel packages now. So the UPC is totally different and doesn't match the coupon. Technically it doesn't say you can't use it on the travel/trial so you should be fine...but this is one..that I probably wouldn't argue and I really wouldn't fight corp on it. Walmart would have to push it through, and trying to explain to them, why it's beeping and why they should just push it through anyways...I just wouldn't go there...KWIM?

If you can find older tide trial sizes that still have the old UPC it shouldn't beep.

These posts are troubling. I'm a shy person so it's been hard for me to coupon. I tend to feel bad when people end up behind me and I have a stack of q's. I know I'm saving money so I put up with it, and love it when I have an understanding cashier. But if stores keep making it difficult to coupon I don't know how much I can put up with.

I'm one of those people that unless the deal/q is expiring, if there's an issue (and I know I'm in the right) I'll say well shouldn't it work because it says this or that in your policy but if the employee pushes it, I leave the item and try on another trip. Well unless it's something that it's possible I'm wrong about and then I'll call and ask about it before going back. But I get embarrassed when it beeps and I don't like the uncomfortable feeling of people getting impatient while I'm trying to explain my point.

The reason I'm explaining this is that if I'm following the rules as best I can determine, it's frustrating to have experiences like that and makes me re-evaluate my savings. I hope the companies start understanding that coupons do work - I by far purchase many new items (that I now love!) that I wouldn't have before because the coupon makes it the same price or cheaper than a competitor and also I shop places I previous didn't because of the savings I get from couponing at those stores. But if they make it difficult, someone like me will most likely stop (or at least use less). I love the savings, but having a 16yr old girl tell me that I can't use my q because it would make an item free and feeling belittled when she refuses again even after I explain the store policy allows for one store and one manufacturer q to be used, well things like that make it difficult to continue. (wow, sorry for the rant!) Luckily, that's not an every shopping trip experience!! I just hope it doesn't get to be that way.

Hey sunshiney, I would say "don't sweat the small stuff". Everything doesn't always go as planned. That doesn't mean you can't get great deals couponing. Try to have fun doing this. There are times when using coupons might mean a family gets to have enough food to eat, and we all could use help stretching those dollars. You can always show the coupons to a CSM before you check out, or hand to your checker prior to checking out. You could put each one on top of the item. That way if they didn't scan you could say "please take that off" instead of digging through all the bags or having to buy something you thought was gonna be free. Try avoiding the same cashier, the younger inexperienced one. I am sure you will be able to get some great deals at Walmart even so. We don't all get 20-100.00 worth of free floss or whatever. I do think the overage coupons beep and then the cashier just has to hit a button to confirm the price but I really am not an expert. The more you do this the more confident you will feel about couponing. It really is fun. We are all so fortunate to have this forum to talk about our experiences on...I think HCW is a confidence builder!

    Hi sunshiney,

I know how you feel, I felt the same way but have decided not to let the negatives outway the positives. Shopping in stores with coupons can be like a box of chocolates one never knows what they might get. Personally for every one negative shopping experience with Cashiers/CSM's there have been 3 or 4 good ones.

When things get way out of wack like this past Tuesday is when I get the home office involved so that some type of re-training/coaching can happen asap. It's my way of trying to help prevent this type of treatment from happening to my fellow coupon buddies. Keep smiling.

Okay normally beeping is fine at Walmart. Journal spitting out is where they normally need to verify that you have actually purchased the issue. Sometimes you have grabbed 8 items but handed 9 coupons instead of 8 cause one got stuck to another. It's a good way for them to make sure that everything is okay. Sometimes the Journal spits out for no reason at all which is frustrating...but when something beeps it usually because the coupon is a bogo and they need to put the price in, the coupon starts with a 9 so it will always beep no matter what, it is giving you overage so it asks if the coupon amount is really what it says (so the cashier checks the coupon and says yes).

If your getting rude cashiers or being belittled whether you are using coupons or not that is not okay, email corp they will get it taken care of.

I got the trial size Tides with no issue at all today. Thank goodness, cause I was with my mom who is a skeptic that coupons can really save money. Lol. I was nervous about having an issue with them in front of her!

I got 4 cascades at walmart and I had an issue too with a cashier here in DFW, TX. Cashier got a CSM and they both agreed I couldn't use on trial size. I am normally shy, but I am an experienced couponer and I know I'm not doing anything wrong, so I decided to argue. We went round and round and finally they let me use it, but they said they wouldn't do it again for me. I told my friend about it who also coupons and she said she got her cascade just fine at that same WalMart, so I'm not sure what's going on. I think it just depends on the cashier!
