My first post - PMing BOGO ads
Hi all, I've been lurking awhile, but now I have a question and I've searched but there are a LOT of pages here!
When PMing a competitor's BOGO sale ad, is WM supposed to BOGO at the competitor's price or their own?
I'm part of a fairly large couponing group, and even the members can't agree. We all shop at one of two WMs in our area. One BOGOs @ WM price for the first item, second item free. The other BOGO's at WM price for first item, difference in the two prices for the second item.
We have called corp, and were told that managers have discretion. I can understand some discretion, but since the PM policy is CORPORATE policy, I think it should be consistent across the board. I hate going into a store and not knowing what kind of resistance I'm going to face!
So, how does your WM match BOGO ads? And how do you think it should be done???
Thanks in advance!

Re: My first post - PMing BOGO ads
My WM will only PM a bogo if the ad states a price. Like BOGO $2.38 for 1 get the other free, I see a lot of ads like that from Price Chopper. I have had them not only do the BOGO but price match the other stores price. I am not sure what the situation would be if WM price was lower. I guess even though it is a corp policy there are some stuff they rather leave to the managers. Hope this helps even a little.

Re: My first post - PMing BOGO ads
Thanks so much for your response...it does help!
At my two WMs, you do have to be PMing an ad that specifies a price. For example, most Publix BOGOs will say, "save up to $3.49 on 2." If the WM price is $3.00, one store will charge $3.00 for the first, second is free. At the other store, they will charge $3.00 for the first item and .49 for the second. This isn't huge, but sometimes there will be as much as $1 - $2 between the Publix price and the WM price. So naturally, I go to the one that charges WM price. LOL In my area almost all grocery store prices are higher than WM. But I live in the boonies where there isn't much competition and I have to drive 30 miles to get to a SuperCenter.
Nobody here doubles and the sales in my tiny town (4800 pop) are pretty sad, so WM is pretty much my only hope for saving any significant amount of money. I sure do love the "game" though!

Re: My first post - PMing BOGO ads
My walmart says the price of the item has to be listed in the ad and it cannot be the save up to amount. Or they will not honor it???? It has to read buy one at $1.99 get one free.

Re: My first post - PMing BOGO ads
okay if it's a up to $3.49 on 2 IMO it's probably something corp would probably say no to price matching on..because it say's "up to". That to me is not a firm price.
If your already having to drive out of the boonies to a super center...I'm assuming your near a publix since your able to price match publix...are you not able to go to a publix? if it were me I would probably do that.
You could also call corp and give them the scenario and tell them that each store is handling it differently and see if you can get a firm definition of what they would prefer...but you may not like there answer.

Re: My first post - PMing BOGO ads
Publix bogo ad always states "save up to". I always have to explain that it's the original price and not less. For example if it says: save up to $1.99, means the original price on the item is $1.99.
