Returns reminder for christmas

WM only lets you do 3 returns in 6 months without a receipt. So, come Christmas when you have gifts from people you may need to return or exchange, any returns you do from now until then without a receipt will still be on your record.

Tips to help you:

1.At christmas try to do just ONE trip with the things you don't have a receipt for. You can do as many items as you need to, but the return will still only count as 1, because it's only 1 transaction. So instead of coming in with 3 different pairs of jeans, take all 3 in at once and it will only count 1 time towards your limit of 3 returns.

2. If it's your SOs, or your of age childrens, etc. then make them do the return. You need an ID card, because they use your license number for the record of how many returns you've done. This will help so that if you've done your third return, and then suddenly little Jimmy says that the jeans he just tried on are too tight, you can still have him exchange them with his ID.

The best pointer is to try and keep your receipt and to remind friends and family to ask for a gift receipt that they can give you.

YMMV your Wal mart,but at ours a gift receipt works like a receipt. If some one is buying things for you,or your child ask them to get a gift receipt with that item. That way you don't have to bug them for a receipt that might have already lost.

Does walmart have a limit on the amount they will credit you for? I just found out my mon got some of the things for my kids that we already have wrapped and ready under the tree. Neither of us kept our reciepts. The stuff would probably be around 80.00. Will they still accept it?

When I worked at Walmart, we would have cashier meetings frequently and the store manager said that we COULD take more than three returns! This is probably a big YMMV; the posted policy is only 3, but they may allow you to do more.

As far as returning $80 worth of stuff, I don't think there would be a problem... this time of year, they get SO many returns without a receipt from all the Christmas shopping, so they probably won't give you a problem... but again, it's probably YMMV. I'd suggest calling up the store and speaking with a manager beforehand. Then if the cashier gives you a problem, ask them to call the manager you spoke with.

Some stores do have a policy that allows only a certain amount of merchandise to be returned at a time without a receipt. Example, in Frederick MD I was told at the new super center I could only return $50. Went across town and returned $100 without a problem. So...very much a YMMV.

Also, some places will tell you it's 3 returns without a receipt per year. And if returning, don't forget your Driver's License as they will need it.
