so... my WM is now limiting the Price Matches.....
If the ad says limit 2, WM is sticking to the limit 2...
this is a new thing in Hastings NE

Thanks so much OP I price matched for the first time today and learned a few things. First I checked out the checkers as I was walking in, looking for someone young, appearing to not care if I save some money. I learned that most of my swm cashiers are older and look very grouchy and I picked a good checker, she didn't ask for my ads, didn't blink when I handed her my stack of 30+ coupons and I believe I earned a right of passage by finding out how many coupons my wal-mart takes til they call a csm (which is $50 at mine). repped ya

My WM PMs with these rules:
    limit 4 identical pm'd item
will match bogo or % off if the actual sale price is stated in the ad
never had a problem with stores with a card
they've actually pm'd price after rebate/ECB for me before but may not have noticed that it was (of course it wasn't a FAR or anything like that) and I didn't realize at the time that they weren't supposed to.

The WM here may have changed, but I quit doing much shopping there when they started the bs about Krogers or Randalls "with card" prices ... EVEN THOUGH I HAD those stores cards. My response, "Kiss this ... and I don't even wear lipstick!"

About the only thing I go in there for is Jumbo Eggs, Equate drink, and if my store doesn't have bread on sale. It's safe to say that I went from spending (pre-coupon) better than $200 every week or so to maybe $25 a month (without Qs) ... just because they don't want to honor their word.

Also, when walking through for those items, I've noticed things on sale at other stores are no longer on the shelves at WM ... I understand ... what you don't have out to sale, you don't have to price match.
Hopefully your stores don't follow the same pattern.

I know here that Walmart does not advertise Grocery items, or at least very very few so by matching their competition they save a bundle on advertising.

My walmart price matches any ads in a radius of 50 miles, they get the ads out of the Sunday and local paper and have them up at the CSS/CSM's stand.

I agree it is probably easier to go scout out a younger cashier, I'm 17 and a cashier, we are told they don't need to provide the ad and we take the customer's word for it, unless it sounds like something absurd like $1 for a 12 pack of pepsi.

Something that helps out greatly for me as a cashier is for the customer to make sure to remember to tell me that they are price comping before I ring the item, otherwise I have to void or error correct. We press price override, scan the item, hit the code for price comping, and then type in the amount. I think it's funny how some cashiers won't calculate the price themselves, they don't have to! All we have to do is say for instance it's 4/$11, we can just hit 4, /, 1100 and it will come up as the 2.75.

Another reason someone might price comp at walmart is because our local Krogers may have pepsi 12 packs 4/$11 but they only get that price if they buy 4. At walmart you can get that price if you just buy one.

HI Re: Quick Tip on Price Matching

I am a cashier at Walmart part-time. I have read a lot of entries on this forum, I can answer some things. Yes, a lot of the times it matters which cashier you get. There are cashiers where I work that tell you if you have an item that can get PM. I also work with ones that will look up and argue every single item. Yes, we do get the ads every week and keep them at the register. BOGO will not work, % off will not work. We do also PM meat and produce by the pound.

I was told at one store that their advertising radius was FIVE MILES not 50, for honoring other stores' ads. Ridiculous.

I was told today that Walmart could not price match Albertsons 10 for 10 deal because...get this..."they lose too much money" I had to laugh. I walked away from the CS desk and called the store to speak to management...and management will need to call me back. Oh what I do for cheap milk.

Has anyone ran into this before?
