Quick Tip on Price Matching

My Walmart has been pretty price-match friendly lately, but I always take the ad with me in case they want to see it (they almost always do). I don't mind price-matching several items in order to keep from making several stops.

Well recently I have moved from TX to LA and learned that each WM makes the rules up as they wish. The basics are the same, but the Store Director has final say on limits, etc. Here is what WM emailed me on 12/28/09:
Thank you for your message.

Dear Monica,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your inquiry. Walmart will match local competitor's ads for exact items (all things identical, description, brand, etc.) Except: Gimmick Ads (Percents off, buy one get one free, you must make additional purchases to receive a discounted price, Loyalty Cards, etc.)

Local competition is usually a radius area around a store and is determined by the Store Manager and the Market Manager.

If you are having problems with price matching, please contact your local store management.

Well, like I have said before---The coupon/price matching policy is really a guideline. The store manager can make changes. We have seven SWM in our city and I know for sure four of them have different rules regarding coupons/price matching. I just go to the one that fits my needs the best.
