Wanted to know if someone could tell me, if you get overage from Wal-Mart will they place it on a gift card?

    They probably would.

I just buy items to eat the overage.

With the reputation some couponers are getting, you might want to try to fly under the radar. You might think about making sure you have enough items to cover the overage.

My friend gets her overage on GC's all the time. I just use mine toward groceries BUT it's a great idea for saving for Christmas IMO! A GC should be considered a "basket purchase"

At my Walmart they will put it on a giftcard, or give cash back, or you can use it on the items in your basket. They always ask me what I want to do, love my Walmart for that but it is not my favorite place to shop.

I thought their policy specifically said they will give cash back, so why not a gc?

Yes you are right and they have always allowed a giftcard, even to other retailers. And they allow cash back also, which is part of the new policy. I heard some stores will not abide by Corporate policy but a quick phone call will straighten that up right away.

    It's not against the rules

It's perfectly fine. Some might flip out and you have to make a call to corp. Most of my shopping is done at Wallyworld though...so it's better for me to just use the overage on my other items.

I agree. I don't like to cause "waves" at Wal-Mart.
