Question about BOGOf cpns at Walmart

A friend of mine is new at couponing. I have told her about using a BOGOf coupon on a BOGOf sale and getting two free and not having to pay for any.

Well, she had a problem doing this at Walmart today. She told me she was bought 2 Gillette deodorants and they wouldn't allow her to use two coupons. I thought maybe she meant she was trying to use one BOGOf cpn and one $1 cpn. But after further clarification, this is what she was trying to do:

She was buying two Gillette deodorants at Walmart...not pricematching. She tried giving them two BOGOf coupons. And she thought she should get both of the deodorants for free. I told her if she was pricematching a BOGOf sale (as long as the dollar amount was in the ad) she could use ONE coupon and get two free. But she can't use TWO BOGOf coupons and only purchase 2, getting them both free. I told her she'd have to purchase 4, but then she'd end up paying for two of them, and the coupons would take off the price of 2.



Anyway, I told her I'd ask my coupon friends here at HCW to see what you all had to say.

OK, I will definately let her know. i know she didn't do it intentionally. I think she was getting it mixed up with a BOGOf sale, but even then, you only use one coupon on two items.

I would say you are right in that she would have to pay for 2 items and get 2 free if she uses 2 BOGO Qs. You can price match the item and use a BOGO Q, but you still have to pay for one (at the price matched price) and then get one free (with the Q). I will say it has been my experience at many Walmarts across the country that they will not price match a BOGO advertised deal from another store, even if the store lists the price in their ad. So you could not take in an ad (from CVS for example) that advertises buy one deodorant at $3.99 get one free, try to get Walmart to match the deal (which they won't), use a BOGO Q, and walk out with 2 free deodorants. If she went straight to CVS and presented a BOGO Q, then she should get them both for free.

Per the Walmart price match policy, they will price match a BOGO sale if it lists the item price in the ad.

"We gladly match the price in the following types of ads:*
Buy one, get one free ads with a specified price Example: Buy one for $2.49, get one free (BOGO)"

May I suggest you print a copy of their price match guarantee and take it with you.

It's always YMMV when it comes to using a BOGOf cpn with a BOGOf sale. Sometimes the WM stores here will give you two free without having to pay for any. WAGS stores are the same way. Most will do it, but some won't.

Yes, deetles1762, you are right about WM honoring the BOGOf price match, as long as the dollar amount is specified in the ad. I carry that policy with me in my coupon box.
