I was going to suggest ordering something like that as well.

Many years ago I found a pack of many different sized cell batteries at my dollar tree but I don't recall spotting them there in a while but I haven't needed those again either. If there's one close to you it might be worth the check.

I think the Weight Watchers scales uses AA, if you google bathroom scale aa batteries it gives a lot of choices but I'm not sure what you're looking for.

Just for future reference the battery was most likely the type found in the camera/electronics department and often they are really cheap. But I understand all your points.

My experience has been that almost all Kitchen scales are the flat round batteries similar to watch batteries...because the scales are so sleek and have a low profile...

Good luck on whatever you decide....Oh the round flat batteries are usu. around $6-9 if I remember correctly. Our digital and thermal read thermometers require the same batteries...

If it came with batteries and they don't work, the product doesn't work. Take it back.

You can get a great scale on eBay for super cheap. Just look at shipping scales. Some are battery operated and come with a battery and sell for under $10 delivered to you. They have the Tare function and some are operated on AAA batteries. Just an idea.

I've returned tons of defective stuff to Walmart- my dog's electric fence collar, broken carpet cleaner, etc. I didn't have a box for any it. Definitely bring it back. As for the batteries...Dollar General has 2032 and 2025 for $4 for a 2 pack. Check the number on your batteries- they all look the same, but are not the same- if you are going to buy more.

I am surprised walmart even generates profit from the sell of kitchen appliances, etc. I often see people returning lots of electronic and kitchen type things. I rarely buy anything like that from that store. It just doesn't seem well made or if it "was" it has sat on the shelf to long and isn't worth the money spent on it. I don't know how walmart would get their money back (or replacement from the company???) if the item returned didn't have @ the very least, the box with it. I don't know about that 1... I've always kept my boxes in the closet until I've had ample time to test out the product.... and that's not just with walmart stuff, that's with any store. Hmm maybe the receipt will be enough though, no harm in at least calling to ask.
