Problem with coupons at Walmart (Rude CSM)

Hey everyone... So i am a newbie at coupon clipping.. This was the first time i used alot of coupons at this walmart.. So this is what happened.. So I went to the walmart close to my job.. I had all my coupons, ads, and the walmart coupon policy.. ready to shop. The only reason i went to walmart is because of the price matching policy. I had coupons for Care free panty liners, purex, nivrea lotion, suave bogf. I was ready to shop. I went in line. the cashier was nice and the CSM was nice... she had to over ride the order since i had more than 40 coupons.. my bill was 36.48 after price matching.. after coupons my oop was 6.48.. the transaction was nice and easy.. So my friend and i decided to go to a different walmart later on that day. So we went to the walmart close to my house.. We had all our coupons, ads, and policies.. got all our items and went in line. the cashier was nice... and then came the CSM.. what a... yea... he was soooooo rude... yelling at my friend and i saying "u cannot use these coupons... u can only use one coupon per transaction..".. I said sir the coupon states limit one coupon per item per purchase.. I am purchasing 7 items so i can use 7 coupons... "No u can’t do that"... he said... I was so upset that he was soo rude.. yelling.. raising his voice.. making a scene... since he told me that i could only use one coupon i asked... then can i do separate transactions.. "No u cant".. then i stated i have walmart coupon policy... then he cut me off by saying Im the manager... and it’s what i say... I didn’t want to argue anymore.... but he let me buy my things but wouldn’t let my friend get her stuff... he left.. the cashier started to ring up my friend stuff and told her she can only use one coupon.. my friend told the cashier that she didn’t want the items... the cashier need an over ride to cancel out the items.. here comes a different CSM.. i told her what happened... she looked at the coupons and said we could use all the coupons... so the cashier.. ringed up all my friends’ items... she need an over ride so here comes the rude CSM.. saying didn’t i tell u all that u can’t use these coupons... this is where things got out of hand... he yelled at us...he throw the coupons.. saying u can’t use this... u can’t use this either... very rude... people were looking at us.. like what is going on over there... many more employees come over to see what was going on... it was a mess.. my friend looked like she was about to cry. .. we spent an hour in line... we just said forget it... so we left... all the coupons we had stated "Limit one coupon per item per purchase"... it doesn’t matter if i could or couldn’t use the coupons.. it’s the way we were treated... this CSM... was just rude... and no one should be treated that way.. So my friend and i decided to call corp.. yesterday we called that same day we both got calls from the store manager... Today we went back to walmart.. to talk to the store manager... we talked to the front manager... told him what happened... and here comes the rude CSM... trying to save his butt..now he was being all nice... funny.. right... we asked the front manager what does "Limit one coupon per item per purchase".. means... he said that u can use many coupons... for the items u have... only one coupon per item...then the rude CSM talked to us about that happened... he took the coupons we had and asked the people over the coupon policy what they thought the coupons meant... he told us that we can only use one coupon per transaction... we said that the coupons doesn’t stated that... after talking for a while longer... it was obvious that we were right... the point is no one should be treated rudely... for using coupons... I knew i was right about what the coupons stated... I don’t want this to happen again if i went back to that walmart... I had to fight for what i believe in... and I did... in the end my friend and I got a $10 walmart gift card for this mistake... but that didn’t matter.. what mattered was I was right... i hope this dosent happen again...

You know, I've never experienced treatment this bad anywhere. But a couple weeks ago, I started a thread asking if anyone had corporate phone numbers for their usual shopping places programed into their phones. I'd highly recommend you and your friend (and anyone else you know that shops there, coupons or not) get Walmart corporate on speed dial.

My guess was that the Mr. Rudey was having a bad day and took it out on you and your poor friend. Chances are it was built up from stuff that had nothing to do with you. That doesn't make it right, though and that is why I suggest you keep the ability to call corporate very handy.

You're right... NO ONE should have to deal with that. Not even Walmart Inc. because the CSMs and clerks are really the face of Walmart. Mr. Rudey was a smudge on the face of Walmart and IDK about Walmart, but I'd sure want to have a clean face for the Market. I'd also want to be told if there was a smudge on my face. kwim?

I was treated badly trying to pricematch the clean and clear bodywash and called 1800walmart (Is that the number you call?) and never received a call from corporate but one from the electronics csm who said to bring my coupons in and she would price match. I did not get an apology and when I went to buy the bodywash there was none to be found. would you call again and demand an apology? The thing that bothers me is they were very fake polite but went up and down pointing me out to the other cashiers and whispering. I felt like a criminal.

If something like this starts to happen again, try this. Say manager comes over raising his voice. You, in a firm, no-nonsense, slightly louder than you would usually talk voice say, "SIR, why are you yelling about this? There is no need for it so please stop." Sometimes just a reminder that they are getting out of control can help. Although a manager should certainly have enough training and discipline to not get out of control in the first place.

yes what she said. use a nice monotone and bland voice and say that. if the yelling continues, ask the cashier to call "the manager" over.....not the cs person but the manager. and say no more to the person yelling.

everyone has their bad days, but some people feel the need to take it out on others. arguing over a coupon is not worth it.

remember, another day, another store, another cashier, another cs , another answer. which is usually the right answer.

i should ad, i had a day shift assistant manager want to argue with me over a coupon. in my bland monotone voice i said "i am not going to argue over a coupon" ...and she said "well i dont have to wait on you and you can leave".....she wanted to continue to argue...i left and made a call to the customer service number and got a call the next day from the manager....

never had an issue with her again. especially when i told the manager i have 5 other walmarts that i can go to besides yours.

Ugh, that is so likely! I have been treated rudely at WM even before I started couponing. I literally got a pinata tossed at me by a rude lady after I asked for help getting it down. The last time I used coupons I had a really rude cashier. She asked if I had any coupons for free items. I answered that no, I had BOGO coupons, but no FREE item coupons. She then said, "Well that's FREE." So I looked quickly and found two different ones I was using and she said she wanted to do those first. She ran those and at the end of the transaction I handed her the rest of my coupons and then realized I had forgotten one BOGO q. I apologized immediately for overlooking it in my pile, and all this cashier did was shake her head, grown, and then said something under her breath. I am not the type to keep quiet, but I had another transaction to run so I didn't want to upset her MORE. I just feel like people should do jobs that they like to do. And even if they don't absolute LOVE their job, they still get paid for it, so buck up and be happy you have a job in the first place! :|

Today was my first day doing price matching, and I felt like a complete idiot. I did everything that was advised of me. I printed Walmart's coupon policy and price match policy, and brought the ads, but the cashier was trying to argue with me over some of the things.

When I first put the groceries on the line, I told her I had a lot of match up items. She was like "how many?" "oh s___" And then she kept complaining about how many she had to do. I didn't feel so great about spending 2 1/2 hours shopping for the best deal to get a "holy crap" look on her face!

I did do the right thing, and I went at night. I was not about to make anybody mad at me because I held up a busy line during the day.

But today being my first day, I was completely unorganized, ads everywhere and not categorized by where the sales were. But this is a lesson to me, and next time I'll get it together!
