This happened to me and I had the original receipt with me showing how much I paid for an item that went on clearance sometime after I bought it. I told cashier I wasn't interested in a price adjustment, I am returning item with tag and want a full refund. The cashier didn't know how to process the refund which was ringing up a lot less than what I paid for. I would've taken the loss if I didn't have a receipt and have no proof I paid full price but since I had the receipt, I refuse to take the much lesser refund. Several people had to discuss it before I finally got my full refund back.

I learned my lesson and why I avoid returns @ WM @ all costs

I'd still prefer Walmart hands down over Target any day.

Hopefully Walmart figures out the bug in the system and gets it working properly. They hate bad press so hopefully this will help!

I don't ever get gift receipts, I just keep the regular ones, and will send it along if needs be to whoever if they need to return it.

I remember this being reported like almost a year ago? You would think it would quickly come to a stop once they got such negative publicity for it.

Remember Target shortchanging on coupons? That took forever to resolve.

And now we have Walgreens being accused of fraud with some pretty powerful evidence against them.

Sounds like unethical practices are just everyday business - anything goes as long as it improves the bottom line.

Yeah, Target was also charged with fraud regarding coupons (I wonder what happened to the case filed against them) and now WAG is facing a lawsuit. We will probably read more cases and find out how both consumers and mfr are ripped off by retailers.
