always out of stock... slight venting

I read on a forum somwhere that Walmart does this deliberately. I dont know how true it is. But mine told me they were having trouble with ordering enough Nivea bodywash due to shortages from the company, but just 20 min down the road another one had shelves full.

And the day i was talking to them about ordering me some body wash, she said they were getting in a shipment that night. She said "6", I said 6 boxes? she said no, 6 BOTTLES.

Walmart uses the JIT (just in time) ordering system. Most items are not ordered by hand. When the items are scanned at the register, the computer keeps track and when there is enough room on the shelf to hold a case, the system will order it. Problem with that is, a case may be "6" bottles, as previously stated. When those 6 come in they are gone within an hour or so.

I work for a broker that was hired by Walmart for just this purpose. To check chronic out of stock items and find out what the issue is.

I was just going to say what bubbahead said. I used to work for Walmart and the way they reorder things, the people have no power. So going to the service desk will not help. They get shipments and they do not know what they will get. It is not ordered by a person, but by a computer that uses data collected from checkouts to determine inventory.

Clearly they need to improve this system because I find that they are always out of at least 2 things that I need. It drives me NUTS! I hope that broker you mentioned is able to find the issue and fix it.

I went Saturday and was able to find the Nivea. So finally they have some in stock! LOL but now they are out of the Similac. That one they've had good stock in...so I'm guessing someone actually deliberately "cleared the shelf" so to speak....because earlier in the week...there were plenty and they've had plenty each time I've went.

Luckily the Similac Advanced...concentrate is $4.17...so I went with that instead.

I've experienced WM being out of certain items that are great deals after coupon. I usually expect it. The one thing that really bugs me though is WM's knack for being out of the one thing (or several on a bad day) that I need. Always something that isn't even a deal so there's no reason for them to be out. And something I only buy once in a blue moon. I swear they have someone who reads my mind on the way to the store and grabs up whatever I'm thinking of buying to hide it in the back. It's annoying!

It's sooo true! They always seem to be out of the one item I really "need" the most and not just something I am using coupons for!!!

I've been noticing, that if you wait a few weeks after the coupon comes out that you want to use, the stuff you want is in stock because all the new "extreme" couponers have used up their coupons. I usually wait until about 2 weeks before the coupon expires and then start looking for whatever it is, that I want. I can usually find it then.

Right on! Same here! If you wait until right before the expiration, most folks have used up their coupons and then you are able to get your items when they are back in stock. Most of the time you can, other times not... but if not, another deal will always happen soon so I try not to be TOO bummed out!

I just went to my walmart and they were completely wiped out of similac sensitive. Idk what is is with this town but every baby seems to be on the same type of formula. then i went to get some ivory soap 3 pk they were wiped out a few days ago this time i got lucky and their was one pack (had only 1 coupon im not an "extreme" couponer). And the ronzoni pasta was picked over. Other than that my walmart doesn't have a huge shelf clearing problem. I count my blessings because it seems everyone but me so far has "issues" with their walmart.

I'll take Walmart's temporarily out of stock vs Walgreens always out of stock any day!! Like someone said, I wait for everyone to use their coupons then I get mine... usually no big rush.

FYI.. I finally got my homestyle mac.. Note.... i was not down on shelf clearers but on walmart itself.. anyway...

I grabbed.. (felt kind of squeamish about it) $2.00 off tags of wisk laundry off the bottles... i got like 10.. does anyone know a deal on this..

on another note.. maybe wrong thread.. is there ever any deals on MEAT...

that is the money killer..

Some walmart's have 12 load wisk for 99 cents. But not mine. But FD and DG often have cheap wisk. and don't feel squeamish. I don't and I have at least 10

The deals I see on meat are when they have reduced the price of a tray or two. Since Walmart doesn't have typical sales like other grocery stores...it might just be cheaper to get your meat at another store if yours is too expensive

Just an FYI :
At my SuperWalmart...
Often times, some Rollback items are in the "Seasonal" aisle.
Especially in-between holidays...
Being that Easter just passed... and they don't stock alot of "extra items" for Memorial Day...
This is an in-between time... (until closer to graduation time/4th of July)
And I *did* see the Mac n Cheese in the seasonal aisle today.

Soo.. maybe check the seasonal aisle. =)
