QUESTION Walmart $0.00 instore price sign question

Today, I went to WM and they had a endcap full of Brita water pitchers with the big black and white sign above them $0.00

I took two of them to the register and they scanned $22.xx. I told cashier their is a sign that they were free, but they would not give it to me. LOL

Is there a meaning to the 0.00?

Other than that they just hadn't put the right price on the sign yet?

I've found this to be something of a problem at Walmart. They don't put the right price by the right item. I bought some dip that was normally $3+. The sign said $1.88. That was really for the chips next to the dip although the sign looked like it was for the dip. The CS person had no trouble with the return, but it really annoyed me that she destroyed the dip (opened it and discarded it). What a waste. Why not offer to sell it to me for what I thought was the price?

2 weeks ago they had an end cap with the big bags of iams dog food for $15...the shelf had a $18 something price tag...when they rang up wrong i told the cs lady that it was clearly marked on an end isle...the employee checked and confirmed it was marked as such...i was given it as the price..

sorry but i see the "$0.00" price as a disgruntaled employee putting it up. by by gosh if it said $1.00 i would force the price on them

you should have been given that price..I would have thrown a fit for if the price is maked wrong the policy is you get it for that price..

I used to work ay walmart and I was told they are to give you $3 when something rings up wrong. When you override a price you have to enter the number for the reason why. #2 is price matching, #1 is for the $3 and #3 and I think there was a #4 were for other things but I'm not sure what. Might be worth mentioning if you have something ring up wrong.

The policy is if the item is wrongly marked, they are to sell you one at that price. Key word- SELL. I highly doubt they would ever give an item away, even if the sign did say $0. (but wouldn't it be great if they did).

I've seen this once or twice in my store recently (we're remodeling). I think what happens, at least in my store, is that they put the shelves and signing on the end when they are replacing the shelves. Since there is no product on it yet, they just put 0. Someone else comes along and fills the endcap and doesn't bother fixing the price.

The $3 for a wrong price is not a Walmart policy anymore. They just sell you the item at the listed price. I believe this changed a couple of years back.
