Valid Q Amount vs. See Journal

I give up--I just don't get it! Just when I think I've nailed overage at Walmart, something trips me up!

The last batch of Schick $3/1 Qs (the ones that expired 3/21) all caused the register to say "Valid Coupon Amount?" and the cashier pushed them thru with no problems whatsoever.

Except for the last 3 I used (last weekend, I think). Instead, the register said "See Journal" (or something like that) and the cashier printed out a copy of the receipt.

At a different Walmart, I used some Gold Bond Qs that did not exclude trial size and the register said "Valid Coupon Amount?" and again, I got overage with no problems.

Now...I have a new set of $3/1 Qs for Schick razors. I drove out of my way to the same Walmart that I used the Gold Bond Qs at. As fate would have it, I even had the same cashier!

However, the register said "See Journal" instead of "Valid Coupon Amount?" and I did not get the overage I was hoping to get! So disappointing!

So what gives? Is there a trick I don't know about? I feel like I've come so far in understanding Walmart's cash registers and their system (not going over $X in coupons to avoid a CSM override....etc.) Am I doing something wrong?

I had MINIMAL issues the last time with the Schick q....one store gave me grief...and mine all came up as "valid coupon amount?" Well, I tried using them yesterday at my regular Walmart where I too had NO issues the last time and it came up "valid coupon amount?" and she printed a journal out and said she could only give me 1.97 off for the razors and I told her to take them off then because I normally get the full 3.00! She just looked at me like I was nuts and I said I wasn't giving Walmart an extra 1.03 from the manufacturer! I was frustrated that she didn't push them through when I had used like 20 of them in the previous week and only 1 issue out of all of those!
I feel the same way you do about it....I was just buying them for the overage!

I have no clue about the Schick.

I did use 22 of the old spice Qs tonight for a total of $1.25 overage on every coupon. All went through with no problem, other than the "valid coupon amount" every time. And then the CSM had to do his little override, but the whole deal went VERY smoothly. They didn't even hardly glance at the coupons.

I wonder if maybe Walmart has caught on to the overage on the Schick Q and now has somehow coded it in the computer so it won't work properly to give overage like it should?

I certainly hope not,I am trading for some of the schick now,and I will be so disappointed if it does the print journal deal. I absolutely abhor that darn journal!

It prints the journal when the 2nd barcode scans or isn't covered up...had this exact thing happen the other day and when they covered the 2nd barcode it just asked "valid q amt?" and they pushed it through....that being said I only get a few at a time to make it less of a hassle.

P&G $3/2 old spice 1.7 (this is the smallest bottle) and larger size from march
my bottles are $.99 each...so $1.02 for me...

Its the $3/2 old spice body wash. The 1.7oz size is .97 in my store and I get a 10% discount. So for me its 1.25 overage, but for most ppl its around $1 overage.

Ok! This is all part of my strategy. I try to find someone friendly, I prefer teenage boys and then teenage girls are next, I immediatly start making fast chatty chit chat about any and everything blah blah blah. Alwayss knowing as soon as the register does that I am going to be cool and say, I am so sorry I was hoping today was my lucky day sometimes I can scan my shoes but today I cant and I keep chatting that I am expecting this exact situation. This happen they just push it through, here is what I bought and I usually hold up the item and they jsut tod this blah blah blah.

It is hard to be ugly to someone you so not like. I am nice friendly and established a relationship. Helps me get my way. I also said, it happens here is what we did in the past this worked. I sound like I know what I am talking about and this is how we resolved it. They are not breaking the rules.

LOL DonnaMac, I usually do the same thing! Young teenage boys are the best. The are usually pretty nice and usually don't give ya a hassle. BUT You will have ot go in teh evening, as tehy are in school during the day.
