Default re: WALMART coupon doubling. Huh?

Unfortunately for many people in small towns WM does come in, then small businesses get run out and then the customers are left with no other option. I really can't stand them , but sometimes where I live there are no other options, so at least I'll make it work to my advantage and pocket book, by couponing so they get just a little(ok a lot) less from me. I mostly hate them though and only go if absolutely necessary, but since couponing-it has become less and less. Thank goodness.

Let's bring this back around to topic, as this is not the Hot Under the Collar forum. If you don't like Walmart, that's your business and can be debated until the cows come home...in another forum. Many of us really have little other choice as to where to shop. The "evils of Walmart" type posts belong in HUTC, not here in the Walmart forum where a poster asked a simple question regarding the validity of what they were told by a member of management and the 1800 number representative.

Back to topic, please.

YES. YES. YES. One of my worst couponing experiences. I got into a HUGE argument one year ago with a cashier who did not understand the "one coupon per purchase" verbiage. And then the CSM defended her and refused to let me use all of my coupons in one transaction.

I have not stepped foot inside that Walmart since that day. It is a shame because it is just a few minutes' drive for me. Instead, I drive 15-20 minutes to visit 3 other Walmarts if I need to price match or if the deal is worth the potential head ache.

I made phone calls up the corporate ladder and it ended with a phone call from the CSM a few days after the incident. Now--the CSM on the phone shared her name with me and said she was not there during the incident, but...*I* *SAW* *HER* *NAMETAG*. LOL I was on the phone with the exact woman I was arguing with.

And instead of saying, "You were right, I'm sorry!" I got a song and dance about how the coupons were denied because I wasn't buying the correct product. That was an outright lie. I was buying exactly what the coupon stated. I even called her on it and said, "Not a SINGLE cashier or CSM mentioned my coupons could not be accepted because I wasn't purchasing the correct items. That issue did not even COME UP FOR DISCUSSION while I was in the store, trying to complete my transaction."

Purely speculation on my part, but I feel as though she probably had her butt handed to her by senior management and had to invent a reason why I was the guilty one instead of admitting she, as a CSM, was just plain ignorant on coupon usage. I won't go back in there, after being outright accused of fraud. Pity for them--I redeem a LOT of coupons.

a quick update on my OP. I talked to a friend of mine that works at the same store and she informed me that the CSM who refused to take my same coupons has since been fired. She said that this girl was working one day and got snippy with another customer over a check they were wanting to get cashed and they notified the store manager because she was so snippy with them and he fired her that day! I still have not been back to walmart and I am currently enjoying the hour drive to Publix and really enjoying the money I am saving by shopping at Publix. Rumor has it that we will be getting a Publix here in town within the next year or so. That would make me soo HAPPY!

Glad to hear she is not there anymore....I hate to say that because I know its not good on families when a person loses a job....but these retail establishments are getting horrible about coupons!
I too have a Walmart that is really close to me and the other grocery store in town is way over priced.....so I drive an hour away to go to a Giant Eagle and save as much as I can!
