Do *9* barcodes always beep?

Or do they pop up the journal tape??

I've never used them but have always heard bad things about them...

When they beep, does the register simply ask "Valid Cpn Amount?" prompting the cashier to hit o.k. OR does it not go through at all??

I think it all depends on how the store register is set up. My experience from different stores -
~CVS & Walgreens - Beeps, register says something like item not found (but cashier will match product to coupon and manually enter value)
~Target - no beeps, goes right through.
~WalMart - My only expierence with a '9' was it wasn't accepted, years ago. I haven't tried a '9' coupon in a very long time there, heck even a '5' coupon prompts a journal tape!
~Winn Dixie - beeps, register says invalid coupon or coupon not accepted and cashier manually enter or get a manager override after verifying correct product purchased
~Rouses and a family operated store 9's go right through.
~KMart & Rite Aid - not sure, never tried.

I forgot to add it is a blinkie and starts with a *9* Guess I will play it by ear =D

Because they say DND- cashier said it meant i can't use more then 1 in a transaction.

Part of the beeping problem is some *9 coupons have 1 extra digit in the bar code.
Those beep for me, the others using go through

Yea the cashier claimed DND Meant you can't use more then one coupon regardless... and since i've never seen a blinkie machine at walmart i wasnt even going to TRY and argue it....

Yep, I used a 9 coupon at WalMart the other day and the register just flat out won't accept it. He had to manually enter as a vendor coupon.
