I never heard of only being able to return so many items without a reciept in a certain time period!?!?!? How do they keep track of that?
I don't think I have ever returned anything without the reciept, I have just gotten in the habit of keeping all my reciepts in a plastic shoebox during the year....but I am wondering how they track this??
Yep DL # goes into the computer, I'm so anal about worrying about using up my returns, I think it's been about 6 years since I've done one w/o a rcpt.! I have a lamp on my desk now, just a couple months old that I have to use a pliers to turn on..I should suck it up & use one of my hits.
We returned a recalled item that was only sold at Walmarts in my area, and they still made us provide DL# before they would take it back since we did not have a receipt. The item was a crib we'd had for two years. They had to call Bentonville to make sure they could even do that since it was a recalled item. The store wanted more information than the standard DL#, but Bentonville said they did it just like a regular return.

Thanks for the info! I had never heard of that!!! Meems....I would take one hit and return that lamp! lol It's only one item! My best tip is to get one of those plastic boxes (shoebox size) and that is where I throw ALL of my reciepts so I don't have them laying around! I store all of mine in there over the year!
i would make an extra copy of the receipt cause walmart receipt are made out of wax paper and they tend to fade after a few months i have had to do this with some of me and if u return something with a receipt that was bought with a credit card they wont give u cash or a gift card it will go right back on ur credit card so u will not get any money out of that and if u have any relatives that buy bullets make sure they get the right size since its against federal and state law for any store to take them back and with beer/tobacco it has to be returned to the store it was originally bought at or they will refuse to exchange it or give u ur money back for it
sorry the me part is suppose to be mine
My case was different. We bought this blue decorative candle for $7 at WM and months later, we moved to different place and the color scheme was different and we decided to exchange the candle to a brown color one. Same type but different color. We lost the receipt but went ahead to exchange. The CS scanned the UPC of the candle (the sticker with the upc was still intact) and it rang up as $0.75. We were like, no way! We paid $7 and can't believe the candle is now worth $0.75 because they had the candles on clearance. They did not allow for an equal exchange without the receipt but instead, they said they could give us back the $0.75 and have us buy the $7 brown candle. My DH was not too happy about it and said "no thanks!" We took it back and first thing he did when we got home was to burn the candle even though it was never meant to be burned. He was yelling "BURN BURN BURN..." He was real mad! LOL...

I have a similar experience but in my case I brought my receipt for a beach towel which I paid full price. When item was scanned it showed 1.97. And that was what the cashier was going to give me refund BUT I protested and asked for a supervisor. I told her I have my receipt showing 15.99, this is what I paid for and I'm returning this NWT so I want my full refund. She told cashier I was right, they can only give me the clearance price refund IF I did not have a receipt. With a receipt, they can override the scanned price and give refund for full price.
That is why I hold on to my receipts for items that may potentially go on clearance knowing that they may go on clearance for cents so I am better off keeping them![]()
