I have seen commercials on TV, and heard them on the radio saying you do not need it...but YMMV..mine insists it must see the ad
a post where someone said you didn't need an ad to price match.
Am I crazy?
If not, is the policy posted on their site anywhere?

Mine still insists on the ad because that is what the policy says, but the commercials also say that you can use any printed ad from anywhere. I've not tried that yet.

I really think it is YMMV. My mom took her ad in with her when I was home visiting this summer for the price match and the cashier said it was nice that she brought it in. My mom asked because she thought she had to take it and the cashier said the ad wasn't necessary it just makes it easier to match the price if you have the ad.
Their official policy from their corporate site doesn't say one way or the other.
Price matching
Our goal is always to be the low price leader in every community where we operate. Our customers trust us to have every day low prices ... there's no need for "special sales."
Our unbeatable promise:
Store managers make the final decision in always taking care of our customers, but we do have guidelines for matching our competition.
- We do honor "Preferred Shopping Card" advertised prices. Must be like items, be advertised and require a competitor's shopping card, for the discount to apply.
- We do not honor advertisements that require a purchase in order to receive the advertised price or free product.
- We do not honor "Buy One / Get One Free" advertisements.
- We do not honor double or triple coupons or percent off advertisements.
- We do not honor other retailers' "Misprinted" advertised prices.
- We do not honor Internet Pricing.
- We do not honor competitor advertisements from outside of the store's or Club's local trade territory.

Does anyone know if this means they will honor the price of mega deal items after the $5.00 off? example would they honor the .49 price on the gatorade last week?
My store manager has decided to make us bring in the ads now even though I know from the workers that they already have the ads.
Ignore my comment that the policy states that the printed ad is needed. Apparently this is not in the policy anymore, but I know my store requires ads. Everyone better check with their own store.![]()

I have plenty of times not had the add with me...but I tend to just be add matching one thing. If i'm going to be doing numerous ones...I'll be sure to have the add.

I was trying to price match the ToysRUs ad, and they told me I could only have grocery items price-matched. The lady came back from speaking to the manager, and said they'd do it just this once after I commented about the commercial.
I think generally it is good to take the ad. However, one day I didn't have their ad and went to CS for a question. He pulled out a black binder that had all of the local competitor's weekly papers in it! I'm not sure if this was done voluntarily or what, but it may not hurt to ask if they have such a binder if you happen to forget yours! ;)
